You know, I was talking about the healer "changes" in Dawntrail with a friend, and he was like "Man. ARR Conjurer had more of a DPS rotation at 30 than your White Mage has now." And while I can't pull that up in Google to prove it, I did find something that makes me giggle about how much people claim that current healers are good game design. Specifically this leveling Conjurer from early ARR in this thread. https://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion...t-20ish-levels
And the quote in question?
So tell me, o defenders of the slop. Why is it, in 2013, a leveling Conjurer can point out how absolutely miserable it is to play like that, yet people will literally trip over themselves to claim that it's such an enjoyable experience to be doing the exact same thing at level 80, 90, 100.I played to level 18 and was getting so bored of the combat. Stone, Aero, Stone, Stone, Stone, Stone, Stone, Stone, Heal (I think those are the spell names, haven't played since Phase 3). Then Protect every 30min. Maybe a stance change if I group.
I love the storytelling, the graphics, and the ambience, but I just cannot get over how boring combat is for those first 15 levels. I get that I'm a healing character, but throw me a bone to engage me in some more interesting gameplay mechanics. I feel like everything in this game is well designed except for combat.
