Blue mage isn’t a real job because it literally cannot do anything even approaching current level content. Because it’s artificially capped at level 80. Terrible comparison.i love gw2 support dps split system but this is such a joke. really shows that every mmo system has their problems, though im sure gw2 will fix this eventually.
Though in the context of ff14 being roleless like Lann wants, Blue mage exists yet so many people refuse to play it because its not a "real job" yeah because its designed to be completely solo focused and multiplayer optional. Theres also FF11 another trintyless mmo but even for its time the lack of a trinty system is a turn off for a lot of people, i doubt ff14 would ever remove the trinty but if they did I doubt the class design would get any better.

Not really, its a solo job which is what he was asking for. Its a job where you can heal yourself, tank yourself and dps for yourself. Its exactly what he wants, a pure solo job.
If it was level 100 or level 10 it would be a fine comparision because thats how a solo job looks in this game and its something they can look at and see if thats what they really wants for this game, because in reality if they played it he probably would change their opinion. Even in co-op content as blue mage you have to eventually fall into trinity roles because having 4 jack of all trades at once is not viable in a role playing game. I am completely right in using it as an example of what they wish for the job design to look like because its literally what they asked for.
