You've correctly cited a bunch of small issues where a healer experience is concerned, but at the end of the day, they all add up. Leveling SCH nearly put me to sleep.
Regarding what they care or dont. My point being, few people will actively seek out venues to express their opinions. Hence the name silent majority. They will simply continue to play the game till they stop due to not having fun anymore or for whatever other reason and just unsub. Maybe at best fill out some unsub survey form and etc.
So does the silent majority fully support the strikers ideology? Are against it? Indiferent? Or fractured into many factions as well? I dont know and I think nobody does(if somebody wants to claim otherwise, please provide the survey data as well).
Hence SE has to be careful with them. If they make something which a fraction of them doesn't like. They wont voice their dissatisfaction..they will simply...quit.

Yes, imagine how many more players FF would have had with a better healer role.

Or would scare away more people cause for average joe. They avoid tank/healer jobs in roulette not cause of them being too hard or difficult or too easy but the fact that they are "responsible", now sprinkle in that they also have to do dps(even if juts 1 button or few flashy spell animations). And before you scream"but healing is braindead easy anyway". Again look from your average joe who wants to give it a shot. I also was a bit scared to try out my first tanking runs in FFXIV and WoW out of fear being responsible for the route, pulling and staying alive. Now ofc when you got some confidence, it is considered "easy".

if an "average joe" wants to heal or tank its SUPPOSED to come with responsibility. this isnt a single player game, you play with others, the expectation is that you possess the ability to learn your job and perform at a median level. thats it. FFXIV has zero skill requirements and you can faceroll virtually anything to max level. if an "average joe" cannot meet bare bones basic requirements, why even play a game that has other people you might meet in it?

You're right, we just don't know. That's all just pointless assumptions people try to abuse to support their own prefered narrative. "The silent majority agrees with me because...."

If I had a nickel for every time someone said the strike will accomplish nothing, rent would be covered, world hunger solved, and maybe have enough money to buy out SE.

unfortunately.. SE doesnt have an exit survey, so if you decide to stop playing the game.... they either dont care, or dont want to know why you left. in fact the only survey I have seen from SE was in regards to Forspoken. in regards to FFXIV its like they dont even care enough to give a damn and just do whatever they want. for me, depending on what they offer in 8.0, I may approach the same level in caring about them and their game. after all, they arent the only show in town

A shame about lack of an exit survey but they can still get some info "indirectly". I will be naive and believe that a big company as SE has analysts and statisticians working on and analyzing trends and subs. if say SE introduced X in patch Y.1 and they suddenly see a drop in participation or drop in subs in general. They can make some conclusions. Obviously its not as effective as plain out having survey data which plainly tells you whats wrong but it can help pinpoint or at least give a general idea.
Even this strike movement. Its success won't be dictated by "how loud people will scream on forums" but what will the analysts report back to the board regarding healer role "popularity" and "queue lengths".

I am sure the "analysts" had oh so much data to support a change to viper less than a week after early access began. that leads me to doubt that the big company that SE is has data crunchers worth what they are being paid. if the data was THAT glaring that it popped up before anyone had really played and learned the job, why wasnt it caught in play testing then?

I am not SE lawyer/PR or will claim that they are perfect. I can just base my experience on my own student years where I worked as an assistant in compiling reports for a local company. We actually managed to catch something worthwhile..or so we thought. So we handed in our report to the higher ups. Few months later, I found out that it was buried under "its not on our priority list atm". I think SE analysts are in a similar boat. Compiling a report is one thing but only the higher ups are the ones which can make decisions based on it.
