I think I've done about 50 roulette fights in total over the past 3 days and I saw exactly one Astrologian. I would assume people would be eager to try out the rework, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Obviously, it's all purely anecdotal, but I still find it weird.
I'm a previous astrologian player. I have since then pulled out of playing it because I do not approve of the changes. When I level it I will be using trusts, FATEs, or a full party of friends but never strangers. That is, if I ever level it. I might very well not and just skip over the healer role quests entirely. I hear BLU is fun to heal with so I might go do that. I can understand why AST is essentially dead.

I mained Astrologian for the two years I've been around but I also shelved it for Dawntrail. I tested it out and I hate the changes as much as I thought I would. I liked the semi-random gameplay and the high APM. I just fully switched to Dancer because it's the closest thing with the general feel to me. I know there are other people who feel similarly. What I find strange is that both here and on Reddit, people were praising the rework, yet I don't see them playing Astro. It was already quite rare in Endwalker but now it's even worse. Which I find ironic because apparently the reason for simplifying healers is to appeal to more people. Doesn't seem to be working.

Healer as a role may just not appeal to a majority of people and that is okay. We have a lot of dps jobs for that reason. I really wish the devs would understand that healer is a niche and by respecting the niche they may just draw in more people. A dps main might not enjoy healing as much as a healer main. Though, both may agree healer design is just awful in this game. I feel you on finding a job that suits you. For me that is bard, red mage, and a bit of gunbreaker. I'll definitely be breaking out the BLU after I level almost everything (probably not touching AST). I'm hesitant to try drg this expansion (I played it in ew). I am not hearing anything good from it. I'll likely replace it with mnk if I enjoy it after trying it.

Dragoon plays fine imo, I would say you might have to re adjust if you will the rotation i.e. reorganize how your rotation was beforehand but it plays great.

it's mostly that drg lost its jumps. What is a dragoon without their jumps? SE deleting its jumps perplexes me...

Well, we still have the 2 granted don't have spineshatter dive but we still have dragon fire and High jump.

is that so? I'll have to see how I feel about it. Question, is it possible to drag dead buttons onto a new hotbar or would that delete it?

I'm genuinely fascinated to see how many other ex-healers (and specifically ex-ASTs) switched to DNC. I suspect it's a popular job for a lot of us, because its proc-heavy kit and its emphasis on buffing/support provide the exact sort of reactive and support-oriented play that drew most of us to the healer role in the first place.

The entire point of a trinity-based MMO is that every role has a different responsibility. If you want a non-trinity MMO where any class can do anything, Guild Wars 2 already exists.

Also, that is just one of many design decisions we have argued against.

These aren't the same argument, because they're answering different questions.

The "go play Ultimate" argument is given in response to the question, "What can be done to make healing more engaging?" The reason this is not a valid argument, is that it's not reasonable for a role to be boring in the great majority of the game's content.

The "go do Trusts" argument is given in response to the question, "What can healers do if they're afraid other people will harass them for poor performance?" This is a valid argument, because progressing the MSQ without needing to interact with other players is precisely what Trusts were designed for. Your stated concern in your posts was for healers progressing the MSQ without being yelled at. Trusts allow them to progress the MSQ without being yelled at.

In the latter case, a solution to your problem already exists in-game, while in the former case, it does not (as attested by the number of players who have posted their Ultimate logs showing that they are just as boring to heal as more casual content).

That's exactly it, yeah. The proc-based, semi-random rotation scratches the itch for every fight not being exactly the same, like EW Ast did. It still has plenty of support options and is acceptably high APM with its OGCDs, so I always feel like I have something to do other than press my filler buttons.
