Just a small reminder that there are only 4 battle system designers (aka job designers) as of the release of dawntrail. We have 21 jobs and no job designer for healer.

I love the men in this game
I finally return to the game! Current goal: getting all my jobs to 90
I heard that in the past but do we have a source for that about the amount battle system designer? :0
Exactly. The ilvl power creep is ridiculous. There are so many nice dungeons out there for example but they're effectively all the same now and boring as sin. What a shame.
Apart from a min ilvl roulette you should have the option to make a dungeon harder and queue through PF. Quadruple the drop rate or something. Nobody cares.
This has been shown dozens of times to be an unintentional artefact of how slow DF updates and how the system was when AIN was released
Tank is “first priority” for AIN which people believe is a reflection of the fact that when it launched tank was the rarest role. Healer can only be AIN specifically when tank is NOT AIN. If both are needed then tank is given AIN even if there are actually less healers
This leads to the situation where you are a tank and queue for something as AIN and the queue takes like 5 minutes but if you leave and queue as a healer you’ll get an insta pop, both roles are technically needed but even though healer is “more” needed tank is the default AIN. You also notice this where if you check AIN at the dead of the servers downtime when nobody is queuing or right after downtime tank is just the default AIN
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
I have leveled AST during pre-release, I feel it was improved enough I have hope it is better, but for now I feel totally unmotivated to play healer, I will take my time leveling DPS until they fix these issues. So I sign with this.
If its translated it wouldn't be the japanese one.
But i hope it somewhat filtered as while i support the healer strike the repetition of disruption and disarming it would be tiring to read trough @.@
If they are reading it, this is what I can share from playing SCH till 100:
Engaging fights make it easier to play an engage with the job.
The 100 Trial, you get to throw so much out there, you check your bar a lot to see which tools are ready or coming off cooldown. The awareness is so much more heightened, DoTS/Chain Strat/Baneful Impaction flowed naturally, as well as my heal tools. What I’m saying: don’t worry about healers not keeping up with damage if the fight feels like they’re keeping an eye on their kit.
It’s this level of combat that we want to feel as healers. The constant raidwide damage is a GOOD thing.
The downside in this trial is that the tanks can just tank LB3 through one of the most fun healing spots (Seraphism feels wonderful there).
However, I can already see the difficulty starting to ease up as folks are already getting their 700 ilvl gear and become better at the mechanics.
Recommendations for these types of mechanics would be:
•For Left/Right, have it still do raidwide damage on the safe side.
•Same for donuts, have it deal high damage outside, some damage inside.
•For the lock-on AoE, have it deal light DoT damage to the target before it stops.
•The tethered line, have it deal light DoT damage to those holding it, but light raid damage outside the line.
There are a lot of good combat encounter changes in the 99/100 content. This is good! Keep doing that! (But please also make healers more engaging when healing isn’t required).
The amount of damage going out in Dawntrail content has actually made healer kind of fun for me. Still wish I could get SCH's old dots back but at least I'm not bored out of my mind (even if I wish I was playing PCT the entire time)
Agree, not sure if its due to gear but it's been pretty busy so far, can still weave in some dps but had to heal more than usual in a MSQ dungeon compared to previous expansions.
The impact of this "strike" was already very limited, but now with the endgame dungeons I feel like it shouldn't be relevant anymore, healers actually have things to do in the high level trials and dungeons.
What do max level healers doing the strike think of current endgame? do you all not feel busier than previous expacs? or is it about having more buttons to press?
