Dawntrail's MSQ story is a disaster and waste of potential. [full spoilers]

Were people this critical of Stormblood when it launched?

I'd like honest answers without the rose-tinted glasses or the benefit of hindsight regarding the MSQ patches or appreciating the threads that Stormblood introduced and were later tugged on.

Anyway, I'd agree that it's the weakest. I don't think it's bad. I'd give it a 7/10. But I'm easy to please and always prefer to focus on the things I enjoy rather than the things I don't like.

I was. I flat out uninstalled and didn’t return until ShadowBringers got rave reviews. I never intended to return with how bored I was. As a whole it was better than DT by far. Just trying to push through so I can enjoy the rest of the game again.

I was so checked out I didn’t post a single complaint on these forums tho. I just left. I was truly done.

I think Stormblood's .0 patch is about tied with DT, personally. And for all the faults of DT's story, nothing is as bad as the Ruby Sea.

StB's patch MSQ did a looot of heavy lifting to make it worthy of an expansion's MSQ. I don't know if DT will be the same, but I won't write off the possibility.

I do think these new writers have a lot of learning to do about pacing, though.

I think in the first few days, Raubahn EX just gated everyone so hard that's all people were talking about. I don't remember much chatter on stuff other than that.

Man am I glad I'm a fan of the game with an open mind and undying love for the efforts of Yoship and CBU3. This expansion was a change of pace XIV needed and I'm glad we got to watch character growth and development whilst being able to kick it back a notch. I hope we get more expansions in which we can see such impacting characters and plot. The recent reviews have also been improving too which is nice to see, still have yet to be let down with this game haha

i find the storyline good and at times entertaining character interaction is good overall a good report to the company for doing a good job.

And mostly for me - foreshadowing has its uses but it ruined everything in DT. Might as well put a huge sign saying "Sphene is the bad guy who once again wants to kill others to save her people (so original at this point)" and "Koana is going to let Wuk Lamat win."

Ok, it was predictable anyway, but... come on.

Lyse was one of the most hated characters for a while. Also players are not dumb, we figured out that they essentially jammed 2 expansions into 1, so people were hating on that as well.

I was hoping we get to teleport one-headed to Garlemald and/or Four Lords, he goes on an overload, we beat him up in a trial and then he is smarter/more normal.

Second half of the expansion looks like graphics team needed to flex they can do Cyberpunk 2077 too.

There's also a really really nice spot to make Bladerunner Gosling memes. Expect a lot of Gposers there. Getting to this spot was the main motivation for me making it as far.

I think Dawntrail is even worse than Stormblood in that respect. Dawntrail has two arcs that absolutely do not mesh together.
