[MSQ Feedback] Please let us go on adventures with Erenville (Spoilers!)

Spoilers if you haven't finished DT!

This is not actually a bait post, please let me explain.

The questline with Erenville in the Wild West zone was a breath of incredibly fresh air.
For many this encapsulated what they had envisioned when thinking about a new adventure without world-ending stakes:
    1. We were actively involved in driving the plot/quests forward.
    2. We adventured and solved problems with our NPC partner. We weren't just a nodding retainer. It was an equal partnership with equal contributions.
    3. The stakes rose steadily and in a believable way. We started out small, stumbled into trouble and everything unfolded at a natural pace. This made everything more emotionally engaging, too.
    4. We interacted (a bit) more with the environment than in most other DT quests.
    5. Erenville is an interesting companion because he is both competent and has been fleshed out quite well during DT compared to the rest of the cast. We are also, as per his own words, his friend and we have already shown we make a good team.
    6. Unlike the scions Erenville is not bound to one location or by a special duty that limits his availability, so he is "free" for a proper/prolonged adventure story. His own current goals aligns with ours, too: traveling and seeing the world, so he'd have natural room for character development.

At the end of DT Erenville asks us if we want to join him traveling through Tural, so he clearly wants us on his journey.
Erenville's invitation is also the only prospect for further adventure after DT. DT's story has been more or less closed and a new, bigger arc has not really been set up.

Lastly, the dynamic between the WoL and Erenville would be perfect for an adventure that puts us more into the focus again without sidelining our NPC companion: Erenville can't fight!
We'd occupy two very distinct roles in the story/on the team. He can't "steal our (battle-related) spotlight" in cutscenes while we cheer from the sidelines. He can also not be used for solo instances where we have to fight as him.

Lorewise, as a traveler without fighting experience he'd surely appreciate our company while our adventure plans/routes would greatly benefit from his knowledge.

Please let us go on more adventures with Erenville in some shape. Of course, it would be a dream if it could happen in the MSQ, but if that's not possible side quest chains would be incredibly appreciated.

I have hopes that his invitation was indeed an intended set-up for a future story. But I still want to express my wish for this idea. If it's planned anyways then perhaps threads like this one can provide reassuring feedback. (Yes, copium I know. The devs will most likely not see it lol.)

It was very interesting having Erenville basically say "please don't slaughter everyone" and express concern with how violent and ruthless we can be. It was a nice change, right up until we decided to track down Wuk Lamat's nanny's bracelet.

I agree that it allows for different storytelling, and doesn't just include the Scions standing around sounding, well, I'd say smart, but this expansion was a bit "omg, this key is blue, and that door is blue, MAYBE the key fits the door??!!" style of exposition.

Will agree that traveling with Erenville in Shaaloani (aka wild west zone) was more of a fun and relaxing experience. And also a nice continuation of him being a guide showing his knowledge on people, locations, and wild life.

Yeah, I think he strikes a good balance between showing deep concern for us but also being very real. He often just tells it how it is.

Also part of what makes Erenville work in general this expansion is that he not omnipresent. He doesn't overstay his welcome. So when you get to go through Shaaloani with him, its that time when you get to actually spend time with him. With other zones he is there yet he is often preoccupied with other work and thereby providing breathing room.

I will agree that it would be a bad idea if he became an npc that could also fight in dungeons and trials. As there is something humanizing about having a character that isn't like us or the scions, someone who is not a fighter, of someone down to earth.

I think the idea that he is not a fighter (in a world full of adventurers, meaning fighting is quite common) while having such a difficult job is fascinating. Not only is it dangerous to deal with wild animals, he'll probably also run into dubious or antagonistic people quite often, be it bandits, poachers and so forth.
That he was able to become such a survival expert and veteran gleaner without being able to handle a weapon purely by relying on his wits means he must be quite smart. Such a character would have a different perspectives on many adventure-related things, which would be quite a nice contrast to us and our combative approach to resolving things.

I agree, going on an adventure with Erenville was one of the best times I had during the MSQ! He's well written and an enjoyable character over all and I would love to see more of him in the future.

Yeah I was really bummed out when his short segment ended (even though it was expected :') ). This is Zoraal Ja's true crime: forcing us back into DT's main story and ruining our promised adventure vacation.

please no, the 1st adventure with him being write horriblely still leave sand in my mouth, just go back to good old "super hero save the world" story, EW last zone and dragon background prove that outside of space still many other races as ancient as ascian, just pull one of them to be our new enemy

i am really interest in that omega races backgrouns story where they just turn a whole races into machine and invade other worlds, that also make SB raid become mandatory if they use it

No, please no more content with Erenville.
He really gets on my nerves.
I'd rather go for another round with Wuk.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
