There is a difference in advocating to go out of the way to specifically ruin others' experience and advocating for the idea that it is okay to not continue playing healer to enable someone else's fun if they themselves no longer find healer fun.
What I tried to phrase was the latter. Thanks for asking.
Again:
You are focusing on that one line of Rhein, even though he confirmed himself that my interpretation is what he means, while you ignore that the collective of this thread does not call for any actively disruptive behaviour. But not playing healer is really everything this entails. Nobody is advocating to be actively malicious and ruin other people's runs (by idk queueing and then refusing to heal or something).
The point of this thread is that the people who post here do not have fun with healers in their current form, so they plan to abandon them (and play something they enjoy instead). They just want to make it known publicly and in a concentrated manner to show the devs the state healers are in.
No other "strike" measure or action to actively disrupt other people's gaming experience has ever been discussed or promoted in here if I recall it correctly.
Not playing healer is not actively disruptive/crossing the boundaries of other people. It's people's right to play what they like. If many people decide that they don't want to take their healer into DT then that's their choice in order to make the most out of their expansion experience.
I'm pretty sure SE has metrics on what jobs you played, the amount of time you spent on them, when you spent your time on them, and what kind of content you spend your time on. If they see primarily a bunch of healer mains unsub, I'm sure they can notice. Otherwise I don't know what kind of metric driven team they are.Unsubbing only gives us -1 healer in queues while playing another role also adds +1 DPS/Tank in queues. Square is very much metric driven nowadays given their justification for removing Kaiten and how they viewed EW relics as "successful".
Unsubbing also doesn't give us the option to give feedback for why we unsubbed. For all they know it was because people didn't like something completely unrelated to healer design. I still love the game, enough to where I'm still willing to pay my sub, but I despise how healers have been designed for the past 5 years, so I'm leaving my feedback, not touching them and encouraging anyone else who feels similar to do the same.
Vengeance without mitigation, Holmgang without invuln, Inner Beast without mitigation in place of triple healing, Thrill of Battle not healing the max HP increase, Foresight existing.
I'm sure you mean 2.1 where all of this was fixed... minus Foresight that is.
There's something ironic about calling us "half-assed" while not even bothering to type out "really."
The topic has already been discussed to death but I actually like FFXIV and wish to continue playing it. I do not want to continue playing as a healer specifically so I'm just not going to.
It was a members of a regular static that knew each other. A group of hardcore players who knew what they were doing went in and had some fun because they could. It being like this a long time doesn't really make it better, though from what I have gathered it has become worse over time and in the past War used to be less invulnerable.
The problem is not that you can clear content with all kinds of exotic team compositions. Sure, you can also do an all healer clear of casual dungeons but it'll take a lot longer. It's that 1T3DPS can apparently be more feasible or at least just as feasible as 1T1H2DPS, making healers effectively redundant in the trinity. You say it yourself, healers are necessary because the duty finder demands they are there. That is an external requirement. It doesn't necessarily reflect the true balance (or lack thereof) of the trinity. If that external constraint wasn't there then perhaps healers would be less needed.
Doing a ROULETTE with rando 1T3DPS is a recipe for disaster. Will the tank know how to use mitigation oGCDs? What if a new WAR forgets Berserk/Inner Release/etc.? What if the three DPS don't know how to stay out of the orange circle?
Healers will always be needed in roulettes because you never know if you're going to get a good tank and competent DPS, or complete garbage. Same can be said for other roles. Getting a crap healer is just as much a bad time as a healer getting a bad tank and DPS.
Even still, telling people "just unsub" isn't helpful when they also play the game for other reasons besides healing. I like my house and housing, I like glamours, and I still enjoy playing RDM. MNK got reworked for EW because it was the least played melee by far, Monk mains didn't need to unsub for that, same with the current AST rework. People don't need to unsub to see the changes they want, just swap to something else and convince anyone else who feels similarly to do the same.I'm pretty sure SE has metrics on what jobs you played, the amount of time you spent on them, when you spent your time on them, and what kind of content you spend your time on. If they see primarily a bunch of healer mains unsub, I'm sure they can notice. Otherwise I don't know what kind of metric driven team they are.
If anything, telling people to unsub just feels like "go away, we don't want you".
#FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE
Healers have been neglected for 3 expansions now and this needs to be rectified with the following:
- An engaging DPS kit beyond a nuke and DoT.
- Increased incoming damage so we have more to heal.
- Distinctive playstyles amongst the healers.
- Some nerfs to non-healer heals, we shouldn't be replaceable.
