Like, I agree, it's a terrible thing to only focus on extremes. I DON'T want to only call them out on their issues. But as I said before, I can't call them on issues and force out a good thing to counter-balance that, it will sound so fake.

You're still calling yourself an adult while insulting people, though. If I'm passive aggressive for calling you out on it, then I'm sorry but you're just as jaded as everyone else. If you understand your own exasperation towards us, then you can understand ours toward people who don't put two and two together.

Personally, I find their statement "Tell me to my face to turn a blind eye to the way they treated my race ..." (emphasis added) more troubling than mere childish behavior. That level of projecting oneself into a video game character ... what should one make of it?

I am not my characters. The lack of sufficient appropriate footwear and headgear options for my Viera fem characters is not SE treating me badly. It is just what it is, and if it ruined my experience playing my Viera characters, I've still got the free Fantasia they each got for completing ARR to change them to another race.

Nobody is even trying to say "ignore the bad or the devs mistakes". OP isnt saying that the devs are perfect and cant do no wrong, how about you stop pretending that there's this magical loud majority of people who abhor any kind of criticism towards the dev team when if you take the time to actually read what people are saying is to be respectful with the criticism? Again you being very defensive kinda paints the picture over some of that toxic extreme behavior.

I think it's great to enjoy a game, I wouldn't be playing FFXIV if I didn't enjoy it. The devs are obviously doing something right in my opinion, since I'm playing their game over others. So thanks

That said, putting a "thank you devs!!!" post up is almost always going to draw a crowd of people that dislike what the devs are doing, and when you make a post like this, you should expect some amount of backlash.

by the way.. I had read the entire thread before I decided to post, and didnt consider it snide as much as just a statement of fact. same with the thanks not being praise. difference in culture I expect, but thats how the world is

Yeah. I see this a lot around here. Seems like a fairly common tactic. Gotta escalate the situation just so they can say "See? They are irrationally angry over nothing!" when they weren't that way prior to being gaslit. That isn't every single person's intent who does this, but it certainly seems to be for a few regulars.

I feel like threads like these are nothing more than a low key attempt to discredit anyone with complaints. You know, you can totally criticize something and still be grateful/thankful/appreciative right? Just because people are on top of the devs for their bad decisions doesn't mean ALL of them are being critical in a vicious way. The devs are adults with a backbone. As long as the feedback isn't downright bullying, they don't need people like you to speak up for them everytime they recieve feedback that isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Well, those people now have their platform and so do people who tend to do nothing but complain. It's time to also have those people contribute and be honest about what they say.

Yep. Just thought I'd give people a chance at showing just how much they mean it when they say stuff in this thread. I'm just being snarky on purpose, because I know A LOT of people won't have the guts to actually go through with their words. From BOTH sides.

I will say, respect for Kes13a for contributing. I do wish others did as well, otherwise this is just nonsensical clownery. And in nonsensical clownery, if you have nothing to back your words, you're literally losing all reason in the future to complain. Because you have the chance. Take it.

If you're just here to stir the pot, then at least you're making that known.
