So I got the IS motorcycle and am island level 10.... Now what?

It's been what? A month since IS released? Well, the grinding only took me a few weeks and I wasn't even going hard at it. Everything is max level, the animals I have are being tended to by mammets along with the farm and I am getting mats back from the granary and am scheduled out the ass for item production and have bought the bike... What now?

I mean I could gather some extra stuff that my mammets aren't collecting for other crafts but, oh wait, there is nothing else of worth for me to buy. Aside from the bike, maybe the veggie mounts and the suspiciously placed hairstyles which have nothing to do with IS and seem like they were just shoved in it and should just be buyable at the Gold Saucer, there is nothing for me to buy. Everything we craft is sellable only so it's not like I can get special furniture for my actual house. the cowries aren't convertible to gil either... Basically the only thing you can do is idle there but, I have a house. And most people without one will just idle in Limsa.

    Why was this a thing?

I feel like people only say these things about casual content, which is funny.

"Well, I already cleared savage and got my BiS. What else is there to do, other than grind out more gear I won't use?"

"I already finished the PvP season rewards. What else is there to do but grind out wolf marks for no reason?"

You can apply this mindset to any content in the game.

Yes, however, they are constantly adding new savages and raids. raids also have a lock-out and to get full sets requires at least a month or two never mind savage. And content like Eureka lasts months. MONTHS. Not a few weeks of casual play, I spent months in Eureka and it felt like playing a different game from the element board to the unique skills, the wide open locales full of rewarding bosses, and relic weapon stuff. Now look at IS, everything you can do in it you can also do in the rest of the game for better ROI. Whether it's crafting or gathering. Only thing unique to it really is the animal thing but that is a few clicks and done.

People had Eureka weapons in the first couple days. People will find a way to grind out any content that isn't time gated.

Pretty sure Eureka as all relic quests are released in cycles and you couldn't do all of them instantly. Also, physically impossible even if you grind 24/7 to reach max Eureka in anything less than a few months.

It's not Eureka and there are more rewards than just the motorcycle. More content is coming for the island in 6.3 so we'll have to wait to see what that is about. Relic is soon and we'll have to see how many will say it's too grindy, it's not grindy enough. Personally I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near as much fun as Eureka and Bozja but we'll find out soon enough.

Just going to have to wait and see how that develops too.

wut? Maybe if you play super inefficiently... I remember people people max level in each area within a week, if not less, and same with weapons for each zone.

And by that metric, you havent finished the IS either, because the updates for it haven't come out for it yet.

You can apply this mindset to any content in the game.
This is because battle content, by its very nature, can fallback on gameplay interaction. You have to play your job and react to the environment in the moment even if it's the same loop every time. Something like Island Sanctuary doesn't have such a luxury since your interactions are limited to what are essentially spread sheets. Gathering more Island Stones won't change the gameplay loop.

Savage, in particular, keeps itself alive due to a certain website which appeals to a good portion of its target audience. Once you've collected all the rewards from Island Sanctuary. There's nothing to keep you going back. This isn't unique to that content either. A lot of casual content suffers in this regard. FFXIV as a whole has always struggled with longevity. You either have to like a large amount of everything or you'll run out of things to do.

I kind of doubt its that significant a group doing speed/parse runs.

There's probably more groups selling clears than that
