On top of that, because an item got 5 YEARS AGO.
Them people got enough time to show off their preciousss treasssure. And now complaining here as the item was given out to us plebeans the day after.
At this point, just let them vent.

While I guess I can see why you'd interpret it the way you have, I really don't think that's the correct or best interpretation. An earring being obtainable wouldn't clash with the MSQ and earrings are not playable. Additionally, if SE released a content patch that was nothing but new appearances, you can bet people would be on the forums screaming about the lack of content because items generally aren't considered content. In contrast, a content patch that had several new trials, but offered no new items would be recognized as having content, but being unrewarding.Explicity: The "content" would include what he dropped, it was the finale to 1.0 made for existing players before ARR.
Implicitly: If it wasn't part of that grouping they wouldn't have been missing for half a decade and dropped out of T9.
Neither of those are stretching the meaning. There's very few things that fall into that category regardless aside from unusable crafting materials. The old lodestone being dead and link re-directors no longer working makes it a headache. For all I know it was on the alpha forums. I would like to believe this was all someone dropping the ball but we're probably never going to hear of it.
That wasn't directed at yourself to be clear as well. Other people are though, maliciously, and should really take their own advice.
As far as the items not reappearing sooner, that could have happened for any number of reasons. While it's not SE, Blizzard made many item appearances unobtainable when they revamped the old world in Cataclysm. This wasn't done to make them exclusive or prestigious, but simply because they didn't fit into what Blizzard wanted to do and they didn't feel it was worth the effort to preserve them. This meant that for many years many of these items were exclusive to characters that had done certain content prior to the Cataclysm. Nonetheless, Blizzard has brought back some of those old models over time as they saw fit. For instance, a recent anniversary event saw the temporary return of some vanilla world bosses that had been casualties of the revamp scaled up to level cap with level cap versions of their old loot tables, which still used those old appearances. Items that had been unavailable for nearly a decade were suddenly made obtainable again because the unobtainability was incidental rather than deliberate.
Similarly, that post makes it sound like the encounter simply wouldn't fit into the framework of what they wanted to do (or needed to do, really) for 2.0. There were no doubt many items that became unobtainable after the Calamity occurred. I don't think it's unreasonable to see some of them pop back up as SE finds places they feel they fit, even if they were perhaps relatively rare in 1.0. I realize you're probably looking at the "only intended for 1.0" bit, but that honestly looks to me like a generic "we don't want to do this" response, in which it basically just restates the situation, but dressed up to look like an explanation.
Because there is nothing extra to say.
There are people who have it already and value it as a memento of a hard fight from a bygone era.
There are people with no strong feelings either way who just like to comment on things anyway.
And there are people who want it released to everyone so we can all have a copy of it in our armoire.
I mean.. I have the earrings on my legacy account. I did the fight, it was not so hard people claim it.Because there is nothing extra to say.

And I honestly don't care that a newer player get it.
Remember there is datamine hinting we get Nael fight again so does that make every salty legacy players happy? lol

No it's not selfish at all. What it is, is fair.
It is not selfish to expect people to do the same things as everyone else to get the same rewards.
"So I um missed the 2012 Olympic games I wasn't in good health but can I please have some gold medals for all the events. I mean it's been over 5 years now and they are just games after all." Would that be right? Pretty sure a bunch of athletes would be pretty fuming if I got handed a bunch of gold medals without actually winning or even participating in the events
Is it selfish that I would expect someone to pass there driving test in order to get a license? No.
Is it selfish to expect students to complete uni if they want degrees? No
I mean I had to do these things and expecting others to have to do the same is apparently selfish. You really couldn't be more wrong.
The selfish people are really those who expect what everyone else has. Without putting in the effort to get it.
The people who say everyone should do The same thing if they want the same reward are not selfish they are fair...

We may have the said fight. So how is it different from what you're saying. Player will complete it, Get the reward, and that's it.No it's not selfish at all. What it is, is fair.
It is not selfish to expect people to do the same things as everyone else to be true same rewards.

People need to calm down about this event... It's really getting ridiculous. Unstead of getting into a temper tantrum why not simply ask to get the item renamed? Simply that.
Do you want to show the community managers that we're kids? How do you expect to be listened to in any way after this?
I don't know. It could have simply gone like this :
Someone making a thread in the event part is there is one or here about the event, simpy requesting to change the name of the item, making it a replica
Because you treasure the memory of the fight and the time at that place.
Something like "could you please"
No need to add salt, simply making a simple request politly, you know...

You still have your tattoo and pay less than me for your sub.
Exactly. They now have no good reason to let those limited mounts stay limited anymore. The same with the merchandise ones that are out of reach. If you give something out that was kinda from another game and also a reward for a hard fight, then you cant just turn around and let other stuff stay exclusive..
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
