I disagree. Many people - myself included - are completely fine with items that we've earned or bought over the years being enjoyed by those who do not yet have them.
It isn't necessarily in our nature to be selfish. That's a learned behaviour for the most part.
I have a feeling anything Legacy Campaign items (chocobo, tattoo, name in credits and of course the best thing a Legacy player has been given, a subscription discount) will remain exclusive to Legacy players. From what I can recall, to even be given Legacy status, you actually had to pay to play FFXIV 1.2X within a certain period of time for three months (confirmation needed). You paid the devs to fix FFXIV and were rewarded for your contributionI’m astounded at how many pages this argument has gone on for, I’ve been playing since 1.0 alpha, but I’m not going to get torn up over them giving out old 1.0 content items. I’d prefer they left the tattoo alone, but that’s about it. I’ll be happy to get the earrings as I tried many times to get a group together to beat that fight but we never succeeded and I ran out of time. I played FFXI since 2004 and they’ve handed out many items that were nigh impossible to obtain at one time but there is no point in being salty over digital items. You can always treasure the memories you made with your friends and that will never be taken away.
If they handed any of that stuff out (Legacy chocobo and tattoo), then that would be a very bad move on SE's behalf.
I don't remember the rewards for every year, but some of the past Rising rewards are definitely on Mogstation. /huzzah, Wind-up Minfilia, etc.On the issue that “it’ll be on MogStation next year!”... will it? I don’t think you can buy last year’s rewards (Lyse and Gosetsu minions if I remember correctly), and I haven’t been here long enough to know what the previous rewards were but everything available in the “past seasonal events” category seems... well, seasonal.
Perhaps I’m mistaken and the minions are about to be available to coincide with this year’s event. But if any event rewards are going to be unavailable later, the “thankyou for playing” event seems fair enough. (Although then a poor choice to make character minions the prizes, so... I don’t know.)
I agree that "sharing" is okay, although I rather it be a similar feat. I think it shouldn't be easy to obtain.
I just don't think there is something wrong with people for disagreeing.
It doesn't, I'm not the one grandstanding that no one else should be able to have my virtual goods inside of a video game. I mean, I'm sorry if other people having things that you do upsets you, but, you could just uninstall the game then if you're unhappy with the director's decision, I guess...? I may not even do the event honestly, probably won't have time and they're just earrings anyways that do absolutely nothing, so who cares. ^^
Psssshhh....lots of things already are technically. I mean, I didn't expect you to try and honestly or seriously refute that paragraph, so changing topics and casually brushing off that folly was the best course of action. Is this supposed to tell me things in video games should be free?
You didn't really state a fact. You chose to take something I said as a personal attack or slight, maybe because it's true about yourself, who knows, because I called out your extreme hyperbole over something trivial...and then I guess you figured that taking everything much farther than it needed to go was the right course of action. You don't cry wolf over a person that you think is slighting you and argue that it's wrong...and then go and do it yourself much worse. That makes you out to be a hypocrite, sadly.I'm stating a fact. You chose to attack my argument with personal attacks. I'm unmasking your personal attack for what it truly is. Not the same thing :>
I'm not gonna bother trying to rebut ad hominems. Try something else.
Also, maybe try not using a condescending tone right away and calling someone "buddy", no one likes pet names from strangers over the internet. You kind of started this whole mess.
I implore you to try something else yourself.

I beat T9, so obviously it's fine for me to get the earring.
Granted, it was when T9 was given the Echo buff (the only "nerf" in the fight), but regardless, I've beaten it. Also beat T7 before that was nerfed. Gosh, what a stressful fight that was when I was tasked to deal with Renauds.

If it doesn't upset you why so adamant over the earrings being available for nothing? :>It doesn't, I'm not the one grandstanding that no one else should be able to have my virtual goods inside of a video game. Again, a lot of people like yourself only say the earrings should be available just "because."
Meanwhile people like me have legitimate arguments such as "Why should people who did not do the content get access to the same reward?"
That's pretty much illustrates both sides, you can say you don't care all you want, but if you didn't, you would understand why these earrings and similar items shouldn't be handed out for free. :>
It is.
Beating a fight in the original version of a game that had to be shut down and relaunched is objectively not that big a deal. Especially when five years have passed since that point. Those who managed to complete it will still have access to their earrings. The developers are not taking them away from those players, nor are they stripping away the memories of the players in question.
Everybody agreed to the Terms of Service when they made their account. The Terms of Service state, specifically, that the game can and will change over time. On a legal basis, that also covers things like the developers stating one thing and then doing another. If those speaking out about this are truly so disheartened, then the best thing for them to do is speak with their wallets and take their leave of the game.
At the end of the day, it's just that - a game. It's really not that big a deal.
Likewise. I'm also a big fan of all things Garlemald, so I'll definitely appreciate them for what they are - a cool piece of Garlean themed gear.
They are handed out because the devs say so. That's kind of all the reason there is and will be.
Pretty much it.
