I may have missed a comment so your sentence may be taken out of context. But, shouldn't there be some level of expectation? I mean, yes, at level 15, the first dungeon is Satasha. As any of the classes, I don't really expect you to go out of your way to be the MVP. However, if you queue up in anything post level 50. I should never have to question your fundamental skills. All black mages know to use fire III and then spam fire I, unless they need to AOE. Then when their MP is low, they swap to Blizzard III, and use Blizzard I until full mp, and then back to Fire. (All other skills can be fine tuned and put into rotation) But the basic fundamentals are the same. If you cannot even do that, then should I be penalized by your (not yours per say XD) lack of skill and understanding of a role which you decided to not only take to 50 (for achievement) but to continue on and do dungeons with?

When you queue through Duty Finder without having a full group? No, never. It's pointless. With those expectations in DF people tend to hurt themselves more often than not.
If you use PF then yes have expectations, the ones you placed.

So what you are saying, is that. If I pop a DF Roulette expert mode. (item level 60? is it?) I should not expect "expert" players? You are saying then that; Should I do DF, I should expect the same skill level I would see in low-level in an expert mode? That really doesn't seem correct. Please, explain this logic.

That they meet the min ilvl and behave in a manner that does not violate the ToS are the only things you can expect, that is correct. In this case "expert" is just the name assigned to that grouping of instances. There is no "skill level" parameter they can use to block people who don't meet said skill level from the queue.

If you have standards you expect others to meet that go beyond those defaults then you need to use the party finder.

I don't have a checklist of expectations when entering into a DF. What I do have is an expectation of player responsibility. If I am a tank, you would expect that I chose that role because I wish to hold aggro and get hit in the face alot. If I chose Healer, it means I prefer not to get hit in the face and will reward you with some form of healing should you prevent that from happening to me. That is the only expectation I have.

So regardless if you are Tank/Healer/DPS; your responsibility to the team is to do your job correctly. It doesn't have to be the best. But refusing to play your job as thedevelopers intended. Just makes the game harder for everyone else. You are right, there is no parameter for skill level. There should be. There should be some form of gauge like a Maat's Cap questline or solo guildheist questline that prevents you from ruining my gaming experience because you can't or refuse to play your class as Yoshi intended. Instead, you (again not you personally) wish to run around half naked as a tank trying to spam fire spells as a gladiator because you saw it in an anime and want to be like that guy? _-_ Cmon..

I apologize, my sarcasm may have not been blatant enough.

Hey Jynx, of course not. I was merely trying to point out that there should be a level of expectation and responsibility. Regardless of what dungeon I am in.

I'm of the opinion that if you click that "Duty finder" button your stuck dealing with whatever players you get, regardless of Item level or skill level. If you want a good group make some friends on your server and play with them.

Blame the cross server duty finder for half the troubles you have these days, nobody is forced to play well because they can just hop into the duty finder and sleep their way through most dungeons with 0 repurcussions because you aren't going to ever see them again.

The things we sacrifice for convenience eh?

You are preaching to the choir here. I accept that I will have to play with badly skilled players. Heck, 7 manned titan hard mode in a DF whilst spamming stoneskin on the weakest players to keep them alive. But the point of this thread was to educate players on the fact that, yes it is ok to teach them how to play their job if they are not doing it correctly. It is ok to give advice, and try and get them to at least work together for the 30 mins you will see each other. It is not ok to insult or to curse, and it is totally ok with reporting them for refusing to play the game as intended. (In this case, a black mage who refuses to cast fire spells because he is an ice mage. Though I am sure there are better alternatives to reporting. )
