I was at 10, I was fully intending to not heal in DT. But they did make some changes to savage where recovery is very possible again, which was something I wanted, so now I'm at an 8. I just heal for savage weeklies then never again for anything else that week.Even though your post was directed as Snarknado, I think you asked a great question. I'll paraphrase it. Where are we on a scale between 1-10 regarding healers? 1 being you don't like the current state of healers but still heal. 10 being you have changed jobs and never healing again.
I'd say I'm a 2. I'm participating in #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE; but, enjoy being healer enough that I'm leveling white mage to heal friends and FC members.
Might want to consider the possibility that they have a clue; it's just simply not what you want. You shelve your healing class and someone else picks it up. I hope you're having fun with your new main job (seriously), just like other people are having fun playing healers. But straight up insulting the devs because they're not making their game the way you want isn't going to get you anywhere except more frustrated.
Yeah haven’t you seen PF, it’s so overflowing with healers they are paying tanks to join parties so that they can actually progMight want to consider the possibility that they have a clue; it's just simply not what you want. Oh wait no they aren’t, because if you are good enough at this game to play anything above DF you don’t play a healer because nobody likes their design and you will probably be replaced in M1 and M4 in a few weeks with more gear anyway
A trinity role designed around babying bad DF players isn’t sustainable in anything above DF and this being the third tier in a row with a massive healer shortage shows the high end community is fed up
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Oh, but we know these are the same devs that have a knacks to listen to players who happen to not enjoy X job because they do want to attract more players to play their job :P I'll continue b!tching about the role until they tell me to shutup. It's not you white knights who needs to read these.
I'm anywhere between 6 to 8 in the scale. Can't fully participate in #HEALERSTRIKE as being healer itself is already like an identity to me who had been maining the role for over 15 years. I dabble onto other roles sometimes but they just never scratch 'the itch' good enough to make me want to stay - no matter how well I play them. I'll still run some casual contents as one, although I've been splitting that between playing tanks. I do however refuse to participate in 'community service' such as filling up those vacant healer slots in PF. They can rot away with their supplies of Sylphies, or pay millions of gil to get people into playing the garbage role.
Let’s be real here it’s not rocket science to bumb up ability numbers when the job is at the bottom barrel. Like the player base does gather free data for Square all the time and they still can’t use it for good job balancing. Same with the new jobs. It’s kinda insane how they had to tune the raid for the worst of the worst raid comp and the moment people played good jobs the entire dps check even with deaths in week 1 runs was a joke. Like smn has no identity this raid tier. Has less utility then red mage and less dmg then red mage. And even redmage has no utility expect rezz for 2 of the 4 fights cause physical aoe. Or this raid tier has meele down time something that is pretty cool after the fluff fest that was pandemonium 5-8 and 9-12 and then they give the new meele job by far the best tool for range downtime in the shape of a stackable 3 sec gcd range attack with over 1000 k potency while all other meeles have 150 stuff.Really, the only way you can truly "balance" a wide variety of distinct classes/jobs/whatever is to simply stop caring about making them all equally viable and just lean into making them all equally interesting. Which can work, but I'm not going to pretend like I've seen it work well often. Meanwhile, we as a community—at least at the high end—have also demonstrated if something is not "optimal" it may be shunned compared to optimal compositions; witness MCH being locked out of some PF groups back during Abyssos initially, which suggests "prioritizing unique play above balance and equal viability" may not be a strat that would work for this particular game.
I don't entirely like where things are at—leastwise for healers—as a player, but putting on my game dev hat, boy can I agree that this makes actually making things (mostly) equally viable at endgame a much less horrible task to tackle.
Either y'all are just talk and not actually striking or the state of the job isn't that bad bc I be getting queue times on healer to this day and healer spots in PF always taken lol
Fast queues on healer would indicate that there are fewer healers, not more.
I have trouble believing the healer slots are never the last to fill.and healer spots in PF always taken lol

An ocean of open green slots, ya love to see it
I had a slip where I thought that maybe what people were saying about DT's dungeons was right. I thought it would actually require some healing for once. So I queued into the first couple ones as Scholar finally bringing it up from 90.
Nope, more of the same. Not even surprised. but wow, I can press chain stratagem twice now, and for 15 whole seconds I can pretend like I've got two actual DoTs.
Hey, why did they remove Noxious Gnash again? Something about a debuff limit? Why does Scholar get to have three during burst windows, but viper can't have one?
Anyway, I've discovered a new love of Scholar through PvP, and I've been exclusively leveling through frontline and CC for the past few days.
