you're entitled to it, but relying on the evidence I seen in this thread and my own experience of the game, I'm not convinced myself.
Another thing most don't consider is that Square has a lot of data on our gameplay habits.
They probably have a very different perspective when they look at that ?
So I tend to trust them more than a player who tells me "look, these top20 dudes cleared ex2 without heals, healers useless". :P

The other issue is that damage taken is pretty consistent. Take the feather rain from ex1, as long as you do it correctly on healer, you're taking abour 44.5k damage. You just apply that math to the rest of the fights as well.

Sure your average pick me up group while they could do it with 8 tanks probably couldn’t do it with 4 DPS and 4 tanks without a bunch of work. But the fact that 8 tanks can do it easily and 4 tanks 4 DPS can do it easily is showing that tanks are too strong and damage is too low. Sure the average group needs a healer because they don’t have the level of coordination this group has but the video shows just how low the healing is. What’s the point of having 2 healers who can both pump out 15k HPS when the fight only needs 10k HPS between all 8 jobs. So you end up having 50* the amount of healing you actually need and it leads you to being stuck spamming 111111111111
Not all groups can do this, but all healers are feeling the lack of damage that allows this to even be possible
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
You summarized my point pretty well: The vast majority still needs a healer.
I agree that healer gameplay can get boring, and I feel they've been addressing that even before this all began, but they also can't flip the game over in a month and a half.
Let them cook lol.
I run a lot of huuh... not organized content, and man, it's chaos. The number of times I save lives with my pld and my war, and that is with healers. :P
I don't feel the cases you're presenting here are relevant to a healer who's sweating to fix the mistakes of a dps who took a failstate dot on m4, and I don't feel they're relevant to an hardcore ultimate raider either ?
I asked one between my first post in this thread and this one. Met one in a dungeon run, we had a lull, I asked if he minds that I hit my self sustains, I was on war, and he kinda laughed it off and said I shouldn't worry.
Them failstate dots feel like one step towards making healers more interesting, giving sge more dps options is another.

Where are these fixes, these complaints have been present since literally everyone laughed at how easy and boring Titania and Innocence ex were with the “new and improved” healer kits 5 years ago and in that 5 years we have got………..1 nuke you press once every 2 minutes and more healing bloat
They can’t turn the game over in a month but they’ve had 5 years to do it
“Enforced burden because your average party isn’t good enough to dump you for more DPS but remember it’s perfectly feasible” isn’t a fantastic place for an entire role to find itself in

I don't feel like "they have had 5 years to do it" is accurate, endwalker was braindead for everyone, not just healers, and that was the problem there. :P
I certainly didn't feel myself that healing was getting boring until Subterrane dropped. Been healing since ARR.

EW was braindead on execution for everyone (ie the game functionally has no failstates anymore) but DPS and tanks still had the inherent fun design of their DPS kit and not having another role do their main job in casual content. Healers had literally nothing in EW and this was after the negative reactions to the ShB changes to the SB kits, so they’ve had feedback to work with for healers for years now
The avoidable damage DOT’s in normal are good but they will be outscaled by tomorrow when the crafted gear drops. SGE got literally a single oGCD nuke per 60 seconds so I’m not sure where that counts as DPS options, the AOE DOT doesn’t even stack so it adds near nothing

See, that just proves to me that your perspective is not representative of most people's perspectives.
I run dungeons a lot, with all kinds of people, both of these things are pretty huge in that context, and well, according to you, it's easy to clear EX2 with 8 tanks, so you can do that I guess ?
I don't really care about getting into a static with a schedule and making FFXIV into a job. Not that I can't cook pretty good performances either, I just don't care about these things, and I would think most don't.
Meanwhile, I trust square will cook, they've already started to.

Your anecdotes are meaningless, I could just as easily say “I run dungeons with plenty of people and they all say healers are boring” and it’s literally just as meaningful as your point
They haven’t improved healers in years, I have no idea where your confidence on that front comes from
