you can blame that on the people who have spread alarmist stories about talking and being put in GM jail or other nonsense. people dont realize that "do your %(*#$ job" isnt 'talking'. I talk all the time never had a problemPlaying only DPS in XIV but healer in other MMOs really shows to me that XIV players really aren't mmo players.
I am so used to DPS in other MMOs helping out through buffs, mitigations and aggro control but in XIV they literally just DPS, Its pretty boring. When im on Monk doing extremes in PF I often ask the healers if they have points they want me to use Mantra at and they're always suprised that I even use Mantra let alone talk to them about it. Also no one talks about who mits first between casters, melees and phys range so they don't overstack each other even in savage. XIV players honestly take the Role names completely at face value, DPS need to DPS, Healers need to Heal and Tanks need to Tank don't do anything else.

If you suggest a mit plan in anything other then ultimates you will not get far. It’s kinda hilarious how many tools specific jobs have but don’t use. Self responsibility has gone down the drain for quick some time now.Playing only DPS in XIV but healer in other MMOs really shows to me that XIV players really aren't mmo players.

The only time I play healer anymore till they make big changes is when leveling them or doing solo content. Healers use to be fun to play till they removed so much from them.

Ah, solo content, you have just reminded me of a funny story! I was going through MSQ as Sage and I litetally solo-ed FATEs half-dressed with ShB gear from my WHM (gear is overrated outside difficult content), just with Kardia and Dosis spam. Then I started leveling Samurai, spent over 2k poetics on full lvl 50 gear, even got some Materia + Chocobo companion (granted it was only level 2, because who needs that when solo-ing as a healer?!...) and it was funny how I much needed to focus - rotate Second Wind, Bloodbath, and spam Third Eye on top of the DPS rotation - to try to kill a "boss-like" FATE mobSometimes I even had to retreat, as I aggroed unintentionally a random mob, and restart, because I would probably die... And, yes, I probably suck a lot too, because I don't play DPS at all and that is my first DPS job in FFXIV... but with Sage in a similar situation, I just start spamming Dyskrasia instead lol and overhealing with Kerachole from time to time, actively trying to save brain cells from dying
In other MMOs I only solo mobs like that as a healer, if it's 4AM and there is literally no one willing to help, otherwise it is a lot busier and time-consuming.

You know, that had me fuming during the role quest. I couldn't help think "for God's sake , I'm past level 90, I KNOW how to use Esuna, can you please throw something a bit more challenging my way?" It honestly felt condescending.lets be honest here, at what level do they draw the line and say "look, you must have picked up the basics by now so expect things to get a bit harder"
lets face it, the healer "role quest" is a joke. all you basically need is Esuna.. about 20 times. its a level 10 spell for a 90 to 100 job quest series. they are not making it easy, easy is well above where the bar is currently set. I dont think assuming basic competency at level cap is too much to ask of anyone. it should be a damn expectation.

Disappointingly, you'd be surprised...I was just in The Dead Ends last night where missing a mechanic throws that cleansable debuff on you that kills you if not cleansed in time...let's just say random DPS duo got hit multiple times (sadly, I was one of them), and only once near the end of the fight did the healer use Esuna. There's just so few cases where it's actually necessary to cleanse something that I wouldn't be surprised if a fair portion of your random, typical healers forgot it even exists.

looks like Yoshi P and crew need to revisit WoW for some advice....Posted by Kaivax on WoWhead, a WoW community manager and employee
"With the introduction of the Dragonflight talents system and season-over-season changes, tanks in World of Warcraft have become extremely durable relative to non-tank characters. Their active defenses can mitigate high percentages of incoming damage and they have strong self-healing. Today, in the hardest content in the game, many tanks can sustain themselves without much assistance from healers. In some cases, we’ve seen it become optimal to do group content without a healer at all.
World of Warcraft is an MMO, and its multiplayer aspects are a major strength. Group content is extremely rewarding when players performing different roles come together to overcome a challenge. We want to reinforce the importance of the healer role and work towards gameplay where tanks and healers collaborate to reduce the damage the tank is taking and to restore the tank’s lost health."

Man, that's kinda sad that WoW is paying more attention to its players than XIV is, considering that game's recent history.looks like Yoshi P and crew need to revisit WoW for some advice....Posted by Kaivax on WoWhead, a WoW community manager and employee
