Not sure how it is on other servers, but in PF, Healer has by-and-large the slowest filled role.
I think a major part being there’s more DPS people want to try and there’s no quick healer to level. Moreso, I think a lot of folks are finding healer a slog to playthrough making it a detriment for endgame.
If it’s this bad for EX, will it be much more worse when Savage comes out?
Taken from PF right now, looks like tanks/heals even
Duty finder is tanks in need all day every day
Shame I was hoping the healer strike would let me get more healer in need dungeon bonuses but oh well

AIN is meaningless as healer can only be in need explicitly when Tank isn’t in need
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
As long as one of the roles must always be 'in need' then what is meaningless about it? If tanks aren't in need, then it would be because the needed role is in need. But if tanks are in need, then ...![]()

It’s because it doesn’t adequately reflect the actual need of the roulettes because it checks the roles sequentially and stops when it reaches an “in need”
For example let’s say there is 30 sets of 2 DPS in the levelling roulette of those 30 “parties” all 30 are looking for a healer, but one of those 30 parties is also looking for a tank. In this case AIN will show tanks as in need as there is one party that needs a tank even though healer is far more in need and has queues that will pop faster
It’s not about “well someone has to be listed in need when nobody is in need” it’s the fact that the system won’t even check healers to see if they are “more” in need when it determines that tanks are in need

Weird that it works that way and doesn't just compare the number of missing slots to each other, but I trust what you are saying is how it works, and would def explain seeing tank in need more frequently than normal. It’s because it doesn’t adequately reflect the actual need of the roulettes because it checks the roles sequentially and stops when it reaches an “in need”

Even with this being the case though, that means there are still always parties missing tanks just sitting there waiting on them instead of healers, or else if that 'only one party missing a tank' filled then it would immediately flip over to healer in need right after, no?
Queuing myself I still always get instant queues as a tank (I main PLD) and queuing WHM I generally have to wait, not terribly long but, not instant like tank - maybe 1-3 minutes, and can't seem to ever catch the healer in need bonus
I really do think tanks are just overall more in need still, at least as far as DF is concerned. PF they seem more even split.
I'm glad I do not have this problem... between maining Astrologian and having friends/FC members who have been trying to figure it out since day one, it's been business as usual in terms of queues for us. Was also half expecting to be bullied for walking that imaginary picket line - even though I want nothing to do with it. Nor do most people I know who main healers.
For those who quit the game for this whole movement, hope you're doing anything else - playing that backlog. Touching grass. Getting to the heart of whatever matters y'all put off all this time.

My experience has been the opposite ever since ShB launched; despite DF listing tank in need, I always get instant queues as healer. Even currently when I do queue on PLD I still have to wait a few minutes before a queue pops. It was the opposite back when I started playing in SB where tanks were instant and healers were a few minutes wait. Maybe it's more of a data center thing? Unsure, but either way I don't like using AIN to show whether or not a role is "actually" in need / populated /unpopulated, etc. Luckybancho I think does a better job of showing what the general population of players prefer to play.Weird that it works that way and doesn't just compare the number of missing slots to each other, but I trust what you are saying is how it works, and would def explain seeing tank in need more frequently than normal.

Another thing to add is that AIN also has its own "tick rate" of sorts where it only checks every 40-60s (not sure on the actual time) for what might be "in need". So even if for a brief period a tank might not be in need, if tanks were in need during that last tick, it'll still show as tanks in need. The bias towards tank was for early on in the games life to encourage people to play tank (as it was the least played role at the time), but nowadays I think the bias just isn't necessary anymore.

Tanks are losing popularity due to them all starting to feel really samey and the fact DRK and PLD feel really bad to play.
Still theres an entire tank forum to talk about that.
PLD was my go to job when I wasn't on a healer. Lost all interest in playing when they "reworked" it.

Three responses were given to me and a bunch of whining. None of the three responses that I saw were adequate, actually workable options and the whining goes in the trash.
After like two pages of trash comments I figured I'd skip like 10 pages because I assume they're all the same trash.
Sorry, having to hit LB+(x), then mount up, the LB+(x) to get off the mount crosshotbar sounds incredibly annoying after a day of use let along years.
That's just not going to work. Everything needs to be on two sets of cross hotbars to allow mounts, deep dungeon potions, etc to be on the third. That's 32 free slots to work with.
