Bro I did lvl whm with some friends (helping dps que) too almost 95 and overlapping 2-3 aoes on an decent number of bosses and still don’t feel isn’t kind of danger as healer is kinda sad my man. The most fun I have is when they try to kill me or each other or stand in random stuff so I actually have to pay a bit attention when they have some vuln stacks.

"Bro healing is good if everyone intentionally stands in AoEs" is certainly an interesting take.
FFXI even has Reraise, so it's not like it has no precedent in an FF MMO. I'm personally more partial to Phoenix Downs being useable during combat since it allows all jobs to effectively have an emergency rez, but Reraise on healers could work with some balance adjustments such as less damage while under the effect of Reraise, a severe cooldown, can't be used during combat, skips weakness and goes straight to brink of death, etc. As long as it's not all of the above I could see it working.

Healers have been neglected for 3 expansions now and this needs to be rectified with the following:
- An engaging DPS kit beyond a nuke and DoT.
- Increased incoming damage so we have more to heal.
- Distinctive playstyles amongst the healers.
- Some nerfs to non-healer heals, we shouldn't be replaceable.
Pretty sure they'll still enjoy healing should drastic change come to healers. After all, according to you, all changes are implemented by the feedback of the silent majority.

You've shown up pretty consistently in this thread just to demonize and invalidate healers who've had the nerve to ask for more from their preferred role than a rotation requiring them to spam one button ad nauseum for the duration of literally every single duty this game has to offer. It's fine if that's your preferred playstyle and if you find every single healing job to be entertaining, challenging and fulfilling, but not all of us do. Why is that so difficult for you to grasp? Why does it seem to personally offend you that others might want more out of their gameplay, and that they may have preferences which differ from your own? I'm asking this from a place of genuine interest, and, if I'm honest, bafflement.
I don't think anyone here is asking for every single healer to be re-worked to require intensive DPS rotations, or for every single fight to be re-worked to require savage-tier heal checks. I think most of us agree that there should at least be one healer - or more - whose kit is approachable and more laid-back. I've seen exactly 0 people here argue that every single healer should be catered to players who want a more stimulating healing experience - in fact, the general consensus (from what I've read) is that most of us would be happy with a single healer that feels a little bit more involved. As it stands, however, every single healer we have remains mind-numbingly dull and redundant, bereft both of identity and, more importantly, opportunities for mental stimulationfun.
All of us here love healing. That's why we're having this conversation. It seems to me that your needs have been met, so it makes perfect sense that you're satisfied, but we're not, and that's okay. We love healing just as much as you do, but you're welcome to continue claiming otherwise, and to continue being wrong in so doing. As for the rest of us: we're booing because we want to cheer, whether you care to believe it or not.
That's...why I'm here. /obiwanmeme
It's utterly baffling that they do this, and how they march in absolute lockstep. To a man, the status-quo defense brigade all think that healers should be the FF14 equivalent of letting the slow kid clap the erasers after class so he feels like he's doing something useful. "Can't give healers any complexity, because then people might die. Can't make healers necessary, because then people might die. Only DPSers and tanks can be trusted to clear, so they need to do the healer's job for them, because otherwise people might die."In 4 man content when DPS and Tanks make fatal mistakes, they get rezzed and continue on to play, when a healer makes a fatal mistake without a RDM or SMN around they get punished by having to sit in the naughty corner facing the wall, unable to play.
And I guarantee the solution proposed by DPS/Tank players and probably the Devs, will be to "just give the tanks raise", instead of actually making healers, and the concept of holy trinity relevant.
"Once upon a time, you were the based healer, who could carry any tank through the largest of pulls! Now you're just here because the Duty Finder said you have to be." - Lucy Pyre

"A healer dying and causing the party to fail from lack of healing will cause friction between players", ok.It's utterly baffling that they do this, and how they march in absolute lockstep. But apparently a tank refusing to wipe in new content and forcing everyone to watch them solo the boss from 80% despite being asked to wipe and let the new people learn......doesn't cause friction between players?

While I’m 99.9% playing PCT and refusing to queue as a healer I did relent once and helped my friend who had been sitting in the queue for Sphene for like 4 hours and just wanted to finish the story"A healer dying and causing the party to fail from lack of healing will cause friction between players", ok.

Everyone besides me and the 2 tanks died during her “clusterfuck” phase and from there the tank wasted the LB3 then both were actively trying to get me killed from then on till I could get the rest of the party up
At this point the tanks are actively trying to solo the boss without the rest of the party
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
