Also, in addition to the whole "healing gets boring the better the team gets" angle, it also just fosters a really sad mindset.

If healers have to hope others don't improve, because as soon as people make progress our job becomes bland, then that is another a sign of bad class design.
Our fun doesn't just depend on others being bad, but on them staying bad.

But I don't want to think like that about others. I want them to improve at the class they have fun with. I don't want to go into a dungeon and hope "oh please be bad so I have something to do".

If people being bad is a prerequisite for us to have a good time then that means there always has to exist a considerably large group of people who consistently stays bad.

You can argue that realistically speaking there will always be people who are bad, but I simply don't want to have to wish for it. It basically means I wish something negative onto others to not see my own fun "threatened".

Gonna see if Picto is fun, and if it doesn't catch me, IDK. Maybe GNB. Maybe SCH, but doing all the duties via Trusts (or as SMN).

-And you're expressing this dissatisfaction by not playing as healers... which punishes OTHER PLAYERS WHO HAVE TO WAIT FOR A HEALER, not the developers.

Nothing is stopping the other players from running healers. Healers who enjoy the current play style are going to have a fun time with the queues. You can also take advantage to level your healers through the chaos, I know some who will, and more power to you if u decide to do so.

If you won't play healers and strictly support playing dps/tank because you find healer unfun to play, then congrats on striking. You may have been before it became popular ( or infamous, depending on your opinion)

If the healer roles end up dragging pf time, then I know Ill just run 1Tank-3Dps runs on my PLD.

Complaining that others won't play a role that they find boring just so you don't have queue times is not going to get others to play healer. I won't in it's current state ( except the slim window where I finish leveling them, but that's half a year away at best)

A role whose engagement scales inversely with competence/mastery is just about the most atrocious design you can have in a game.
I agree with you, of course, I just don't understand how people can even make this point at all, it's the most backwards design I can think of.
Skill expression through disaster recovery is a good thing, but it's called "disaster" for a reason. If the fun requires "disasters" every 3 minutes... I don't know, you really worded it best.
Imagine a fighting game where a character has a bunch of cool combos, but turns out spamming crouch attack is the best option at all times, so when you figure that out you get the XIV healer experience.

gonna do MSQ on an alt as reaper, then probably get started on leveling viper on him. hoping they stealth fixed the M!Miqo face 1 issues between benchmark 2 and patch, but at least that alt wears masks as a rule, so i don't have to think about it too much.

To be fair, even having the option to do a bunch of cool but useless things would be an improvement. The true XIV healer experience would also include one day the devs deciding to cut everything but the crouch attack and then tell you to play against pros if you want to have fun with that character.
