    support acquired

honestly i don't really mind it. i'm mostly a solo player anyway. i just hate that i can't deal so much damage on my own, so i'm constantly struggling, since i have no one to play with me, especially on a stable basis.
i mean i'm fine with how HEALING plays, but if they're gonna naturally exclude us from queues like that, at least give us better dps, y'no? ( ・ ~・)

edit: as a friend commented on this to me: It'd be cool if they could comment on it and be transparent, even if it was to say, "here's why we're doing it and we're not changing it". At least that way people could figure out how they feel and move on appropriately. now people seem like they're in a limbo about it

as a scholar and sage, you have my support. if there's a list you can add my name to, please do.

    +1 Adding my name, #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE !!!

FFXIV Healers have been in QUITE the state for a while now.

As an [AST][SCH] main I have various concerns and frustrations over the past few years however the Dawntrail Astrologian changes are INSANE, in a bad way and I could write paragraphs upon paragraphs on the DT AST changes alone.~

All my friends and people I know who play AST as well as just other healers in general agree with me, and they are a mix of raiders and non-raiders before people start that drama.

In the forums so far i've seen people make frustrating posts, or even to the #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE thread say they are in support of it, but not for the reasons they should be/for the wrong reasons. Regardless, here's my +1 because this is the worst iteration of AST imo and if I didn't have an active FC of close friends I would have quit the game with the DT Media Tour embargo lifting, for multiple reasons but 90% because of the AST changes and direction it's going in.

I just signed up to the forums to comment on this thread. I'm not a Healer, but even I can see the absolute state of the Healer role right now. So I fully support the strike action, and I hope your voices are heard by the Dev team. That any dungeon content can be cleared without a healer is absurd, and is an urgent flaw with the game that needs addressed.

    My 2 Cents

I am going to show support here. While I have not played the game as long as others here, and the fact I was not around for Healing for All expansions, I will say Healing in EW is something I do when I feel like coasting along. The purpose of a Healer is to Heal. We can't do that if Tanks and DPS continue to get personal Mits and Self Sustains. It really cheapens us and lessen the value we have over the other classes. I also get Disappointed when I see all Tank Raids or Savage and Ults or all Dancer Parties. There were all dancer parties in Aglaia recently and they cleared it. Not discrediting the hard work they put in. But I feel like this does speak volumes to class imbalances in the game. I hope that Rework Astro is a step toward improving healing and bringing class identity back to Healer Roles. Please listen to your healers. They are tired.

    I support the strike

I support the strike. Healers abilitys should be built into a damage rotation, with big party wide healing to make them thier own jobs.

Idunno if healing abilities should be built into a damage rotation.
Healing is more or less a reaction thing for when needed.
If they were put into a rotation it's either gonna become a lot of unneeded over heals simply so one can focus on the rotation.
Or a rotation would have to be cut short because the healer have to react to something that's not part of the current rotation being pressed.

Better to leave the healing spells outside of a rotation so healers can use them when its needed.
Instead give a damage rotation that wouldn't get interrupted if the healer has to cast a healing mid-rotation.

I want to be apart of it. I hate that people accuse us of only being like a glare mage etc but i have nothing to really do besides over heal or spam 1 button. And with jobs having a lot of self sustain and tanks having 100 petcent aggro..as long as people dodge they really can clear content without a healer and it sucks that your skills can really only come into play in savage or ultimate which people are actively trying to find ways to solo heal it and clear with no healer. Its gotten to a point where it feels like a dead role.

Hard agree, I've been praying on my knees for xiv to borrow WoWs homework for healers as it , while more stressful, actually gives the engaged healer fantasy, and they don't even dps because they hardly have the time to .

Ultimates aren't even that engaging either. I healed both uwu and tea, my most fun was LB3 and tending to mechanics nobody else wanted to do. I was hardly healing in any engaging way outside of scripted periods as scholar.

Ironically, jobs that incidentally have healing capabilities in gcds/ogcds(Dnc, Rdm, Smn etc) , if they just had like one extra gcd/ogcd that contributed to their job bar or mechanic in some way that healed or shielded, it be iconic, and immediately more tantalizing to play then whm/ast/sch/sge.

The only sense i can make of it is that Devs want healers to stay accessible as a "This is for you if you're new", while veteran players are meant to move off of healers, and onto dps or tanks, but that just doesn't make sense

There's nothing wrong with ffxiv healers, you're the issue.

Let me just start by saying that there's nothing wrong with the healer role and explain why your opinions are going to get ignored again.

In FFXIV the healer role is intended to play differently than say something like WOW. In this game your main priority is to do damage and use your off global cooldowns to heal and sustain the party.

Additionally, the majority of you are players that have mostly touched normal content in the game and 90% of that content is made in a way to support every single player regardless of their knowledge of the game or their skill level, so that type of content will never change.

Even if they did change normal content to make it more difficult I can guarantee you that people will not be able to consistently clear it, leading to some players leaving the game because it's "too difficult" and eventually the thing they made harder will get nerfed and back to it's current state.

Instead of crying about it and trying to boycott I suggest you give a try to some of the harder content in the game such as Criterion dungeons, extreme fights, savage raids and ultimate raids.

Obviously Criterion and Extreme are still easy but they do have a bit more going on, allowing you to use more of your kit.

Moving up to Savage and Ultimates, however is quite a big jump for most people who have not done any difficult content before. Trust me you're gonna struggle and you're most likely going to make your co-healer wanna pluck their hairs out but it's okay.

Now I also know about the thing where certain content was cleared without a healer but here's the thing about that. In order to succeed, you had jobs that have healing abilities take on a fake healer role putting in 4 times more effort into keeping everybody alive that honestly they're better off just going healer in the end of the day.

Additionally, if you looked into it, you'll see that their sacrifice of heals costed them a decent amount of damage just because you can't cast heals and cast damage at the same time. And on the other hand 90% of players will not be able to replicate that, so that alone cannot be a "red flag" towards ffxiv healer job design or whatever this is.

I'm a long-term healer in this game and I've done all sorts of content including the hardest ultimates as healer and from my experience dealing with different healers and seeing how many people actually struggle to play it consistently and forgetting to use cooldowns enough to make me have to cover their healing, I'd say the healer jobs are just fine and if there's anything they need it's just a bit more of an engaging damage rotation but looking at DT I can see us slowly getting there.
