That still wouldn't make players happy if they were stuck with a Goblet small when they wanted a LB 41 or Mist 5.

With a good instanced housing system, every player could get the size and location they want. The prestige driven players would be unhappy and some might well unsubscribe but their numbers would be a drop in the bucket compared to those now much happier with their housing.

Very true. They're the ones who designed the housing system. They're the ones who have allowed players to own multiple houses even on worlds where the number of available plots isn't sufficient for the world's population.

Taking things away from players that they put effort into acquiring is a poor choice. Instead, the focus should be on improving access to those things for all players.

A good instanced housing system will do that. If everyone wanted a LB 41 for each of their characters, they could have a LB 41 for their characters. Everyone having it wouldn't change what makes that plot so desirable in the first place. Ward housing could still exist for those that prefer it since SE has already spent the resources creating it.

No one loses anything of value.
