How do you know it's working as intended? Has YoshiP or any of the other developers issued a statement describing what their expectations for the system are?

That the lottery and other changes have been made is a very good sign that the system is not working as intended because players are using the system in ways they didn't expect.

I know how much effort it takes to get subs bringing in gil. I've been doing it for various FCs my characters belong to since mid Stormblood when one of my alts become a FC leader after everyone else had stopped playing.

Detaching workshops from housing doesn't mean you have to lose your workshop progress any more than FC members still lose their FC rooms if the FC wants to change the location of the FC house. All it would mean would be entering the workshop through a location other than the FC house and that FCs could have their workshops without having to purchase a house first. FCs currently lack a meaningful way to make gil to even purchase their house. Getting the initial start on a workshop costs much less than even a small house (500k for the workshop plus another couple of hundred thousand to make the first vessel depending on what materials FC members choose to gather/craft on their own and donate.

That you're trying to turn it into a big deal shows you're engaging in some mental gymnastics yourself.

I wonder how you got those 3 houses on Balmung. Did you win each legitimately through the lottery or were you buying FC houses up for sale to the highest bidder? Perhaps you inherited one like my alt did or you might have been one of the prolific click bot users that acquired those houses through botting before the lottery went into effect.

It seems like every time there's a housing thread, some abusing the system outside of the spirit of the rules get upset and angry that others would like to see a system implemented that allowed every player to own multiple houses and workshops just like you currently do. The current system doesn't allow that.

What happens in the future is up to SE. All players can do is to state their desires and wait.

maybe they should but i believe last year during a live letter they stated they're working on making workshops available to non fc players. so its going to happen eventually.

With SE I believe what I see, not what they say, the idea they mentioned was pretty much abandoned and they themselves know it'd be a disaster to give such an income to literally everybody from what I can see else they would have mentioned it again since, ultimately it's possible it'll happen but I highly doubt it

Why on earth would adding instanced housing require removing housing wards? That's like saying adding apartments would require removing housing wards. No reason not to do both.

Besides, there already is an account limitation. One private house and one FC house per account per world. The people who are hogging entire wards are already multiaccounting for it; cracking down to "one private and one FC house per account" would mostly just punish people who aren't actually contributing much to the problem. You get a few houses back from people who had houses on two characters, and miss the people who are doing the bulk of the hoarding because of the measures they're already taking to get around the existing rules.

That would be an utter disaster. Plots would NEVER be available if it did happen. If it was instanced then sure, but that's not going to happen.

originally housing demolition came in heavensward and prided itself on demoing houses halfway into the old patch cycle of 3 months...at this point since the patch cycle is 4 months, the house demolition service needs to get greatly revised...starting with the time til demolition...it needs to get extended also...players should at least be in the ward to reset their house...so many people are losing their houses b/c the email system is trash, there isnt an in game notification on housing that needs to get added...plus alot of things that need to improve with housing in the future.

If people are losing their houses, it's because they aren't entering them to use them on a regular basis. No one would need email reminders or an in-game notification (which does exist in the Timers menu) if they were actually using their house on a regular basis.

If someone isn't using a house on a regular basis, should they be allowed to keep it when it could go to a player that would be using it?

If we had a good instanced housing system instead of just apartments, there would be no need for demolition timers. There would be no need for lotteries. There would be no point in house resells for gil or RMT. The majority of housing drama would disappear and instead of being a source of stress for many, it would be a source of fun for everyone.
