VIERA AND HROTHGAR COMPLAINT MEGATHREAD

I don't care about having 4 ears on some clothes, I care more about having mine plucked.

It's almost as if in real life, your ears don't magically go away just because you're wearing a hood, mask or tiara.

lol tho, here I am saying "in real life" though this is Final Fantasy.

The point is that racial traits are being an afterthought. Ears should really not be this much of a hassle. Despite the fact that Hyurs really are just a template. Usually, you'd go from the template and then adjust it as it's necessary.

For Elezen you stretch them up, for Lalafell you shrink it down and adjust, Au Ra you take the Elezen model to work out the hips and adjust for horns, Miqo'te have no discernable differences other than the ears and the tail, and finally for Roegadyn you stretch them wide.

I fail to see why adding two more steps to this is so bad. We have 5 races to adjust from the additional template race. It's been like this for years, I fail to see why this is such a problem. Especially when Vieras are the same as Miqo'te, and Hrothgar will be similar to Roegadyn. In general, we've:
- Reduced the amount of dungeons per patch.
- Reduced the amount of time per patch.
- Are getting "delayed" content (Relics used to come out sooner).
- Been told new stuff are on their way when problems with the game persist.

We're not playing Hyurs. If I wanted to play a Hyur, I'd play a Hyur.

that would be the key to solving many problems. I would love to have the option of having paws instead of feet on my viera, and maybe even put on a rabbit's tail if I had the option.

This is going to be controversial, but I agree with some people when they say that adding to customization to that level is the least of our concerns at the moment... to an extent.

Rather, I'm wary of telling "Look, either you want us to fix this or you want us to give you more stuff, you can't have both" and irritate an already irritable dev team (their reactions toward Hrothgar asking for stuff in the past two patches have been lukewarm at best). BUT at the same time, other MMOs do add stuff to their character creation menu over time. Yet for some reason, FF14 only expands their hair collection. The most recent addition that weren't hairstyles was a stubble for Hyur Midlanders.

So while I think that for now we need to focus on bringing both races up to par and exercise patient. And with that, I'll even ask Vieras to not abandon us Hrothgar when Vieras get innevitably finished first... I fear so much for Hrothgar would not have had been done had it not been for Viera players also joining in and help us boost our threads, for better or worse. And these traits must come later.

The issue is that for all this to work, Square needs to stop posturing and work on it, which they aren't for some reason.
Is that reason money? Are they that defunded?
Is that reason technical issues? Is the system truly not designed to expand on player experience while esoteric stuff like umbrellas and the Fellowship system get added?
Is that reason the technicians themselves? Have they been relocated, or are they busy with something else?
Is the reason just "we don't want to"? If so, why not just say so and keep to your word? So far, things have been ambiguous, and saying "It's Impossible" has become synonymous with "not now, eventually, maybe". That's not what "Impossible" means. Be clearer.
Whatever reason, we just don't know.

But we do know the game is capable of so much more. That we races can have so much more. How much does Square need to remove from the game or delay from the game to make room for us any more than what they've already done? And are we even the reason why things get delayed to begin with?

I would never do that, for I can imagine myself in the shoes of anyone who chose hrothgar.
It's easier for me to give up on the game itself, which I've honestly started to do. If I find a new MMORPG, I don't think you'll ever see me around here again.
