Ah. I think it depends on how they approach it still. Again if they can’t do it right there isn’t much point in including it either. I’m not sure why people are so opposed to something not a Geomancer having a different name. Call it a Terramanter or some such. It’s what 1.0 did after all, to some it’s what Astrologian is to Time Mage. It’s just a simpler solution all around. If you don’t care about the jobs history then there isn’t any reason to care about the name used. *shrugs* But Yoshida is welcome to do whatever, not like I can control him. It simply makes no sense to me.

Look at the "terrain" abilities we have already in game, and the amount of rage that is induced when things are moved out of them. People not standing in healer circles, tanks moving things out of dps circles, placing tank circles in a non opportune spot, etc. It's not the end of the world but it is quite irritating. Imagine if your whole kit was centered on Earthly Star as an Ast, and 3 of your 4 dps decided to not stand in it. You'd be a waste of a party slot. I don't think they are going to make a class focused on relying on other people in order for it to perform.

I really can't think of a trinity style mmo that has employed the use of something like that and it work out. I mean this is all speculation, and you're entitled to wanting a terrain mage as much as other people are entitled to a necromancer healer. I just haven't seen it work out in the 17 years I have been playing mmo's, and 14 is NOT the one that is gonna try and push the envelope. They have their system and they like it.

I don't know why they would go to all of the trouble of adding Kyokohu in 4.0, adding Swallow's Compass in 4.3 (a year later), bring back Kyokohu as a Geomancer in 5.0 just to scrap the name Geomancer and add a "Terramanter". Talk about the speculative blue balls that would induce. That is just a lot of buildup after Yoshi told us he had an eastern caster, give us all of that and then be like "Gotcha , Terramanter it is".
