It's the third day of the new patch and I forgot about the umbrellas. Thanks for the reminder! gg!

Player

Tolerance is one thing but if the choice were given I imagine lots of players would hide others glamour. Put a poll on the log in page and see. Let the players vote on it.
Mental issues is for sure not my main argument, that's why I never brought it up earlier. Just a sidenote relevant to the attention/concentration argument. So now you're bringing mental issues into the argument as well. My goodness you guys are trying literally everything.
As someone who suffers from mental issues, I don't expect any game to cater to them. It is my responsibility to manage my mental health, not SE's.
And no don't start comparing this to having impaired vision or hearing just because there are options in games to help with that sort of thing. Those are often not conditions that can be managed with therapy. Mental illness is.
You're not enjoying the game like everyone else does if you're one of the few who unglam those around you.
And trying to make players appear more like npcs is healthy for a mmorpg?
As long as the option doesn't put players in skimpy outfits they didn't choose, I'd tolerate unglamming. But that doesn't mean I'll pretend that I think it's a good thing for the game. I frankly think it's damn weird that someone wants to play a mmorpg but wants to strip away one of the most defining things about the genre. It's like going to a rock band concert and complaining that you have to listen to a guitarist.
Why do you want to enforce your "meaning" of an MMORPG unto others? The game already plays like a single player RPG and I'm sure there are many who just like to play it solo and only interact with players in instances. Players who just want to experience the story for example.
You have to go through hundreds of hours of singe player content to reach latest expansion, then in latest expansion you can use freakin NPC companions to do dungeons. If you're concerned about the MMORPG aspect of this game, you've got a lot of other stuff to worry about.

Holy shit this thread seems to get more active over time instead of less

So my immersion has to consist of looking at a bunch of basement dwellers in bikinis because you say so? Well... You don't pay my sub.I mean nothing is stopping you from treating people who wear what you don't like any way you want. But you made my point for me. The game allows people to dress how they want. They get treated base off how they dress. So how you dress matters, and supports immersion. Thank you.

Regarding the immersion argument - there is not one single instance in the whole game where anyone is 'forced' to party with random people. If you are really bothered by other people's glams, to the extent that it's spoiling the game for you, then why not party up with friends?
I can understand some people feeling their first run of something like the Steps of Faith would be diminished by having party members in novelty glams. The story has been building up to this for over 100 quests, it's all been really tense and serious, you're expecting something epic...
...and you come out of the cutscene to see your tank in a frog suit or a bikini.
Personally, that wouldn't bother me at all, I'd find it amusing. But if it really does bother you, then rather than asking the devs to waste resources on this when there are so many other things they could be working on, why not just run your instances with like-minded friends?
And if anyone is thinking that that's not fair, because then you can't do roulettes for all those bonus tomes, I'd say enduring other people's glams should simply be seen as part of the cost. I mean yes, some glams might be a bit jarring if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, but they're hardly going to cause a wipe.

It's a Japanese game operating on a global scale, it isn't going to commit to one political stance over the other - especially when it's going to operate differently in specific regions. You know, like any business.
Personally as a gay guy I don't want Square Enix to take a stance one way or another. I want them to give players the tools to tweak the game to their personal tastes so that they can decide, within reason, how they want to explore it. They already do that on multiple fronts so this is really just a case of some people having an odd hangup about strangers not wanting to fawn over their character's design/glamour.
I guess I actually have an opinion on this. But the only thing I can think that'll happen is while this option won't hurt anyone else, people will be pissed it's there. Yeah people won't actually know if it's on or off but if people know it's there they will know. And they will complain and accuse people of whatever. So yeah while it feels like people wanting this are on a losing battle, you'll just have to deal with it somehow. Again it's not like it's getting added anyway but literally the only way to have this option is to have another option where people can opt out of your setting. If that can't happen then noone is going to be happy. And no, I'm not for or against it, I'm just shocked this is still going on.
I feel like the vast majority of the actual ingame community won't give 2 damns about existence of this feauture. I might be 1 of them tbh, might never go through the trouble of using this feauture if it were to come out. It's just the philosophy of most anti choice people that I disagree with.I guess I actually have an opinion on this.
