People keep saying dev time this and dev resources that, but it remains that Square Enix is, contrary to what the memes might indicate, an enormous company with lots of money and resources. Why must we have to sacrifice one potential feature in favor of another, when we could have both?

    Let's discuss that, please.
Ok, the ability to change the look of a character outright already exists in the aesthetitician, albeit only for your own character. This same technology exists in the benchmark. Not to mention that the glamour system itself is evidence of the ability to alter gear appearance without affecting gear stats.

Under my limited understanding of how the system works, implementing this request would not be difficult due to the systems already existing, just not for other players.

I have said in this thread previously, that this request opens up the possibility of a better glamour system as it solves the immersion problem regarding role locked gear, and allows for easily identifiable jobs if they player wants that. This means that with this feature in place, the ability for a player to glamour anything to their job becomes much easier to ask for. That alone makes this a valuable request to even those who are against it.

Edit: I should also add that the sheer fact that mods exist that do exactly what this feature is asking, there's no reason why SE can't easily create a system that does similar
