DF and recruitment discords beg to differ. Healers are in short supply. (SCH/AST mostly)
I’m not complaining about it, i got to pick my static out of god knows how many that contacted me. Found a great match that most likely wouldn’t have been possible without this healer shitshow. And I have a buttload of materia from the roulette healer in need. I’m ready to pentameld up the wazoo.
Saying things are different in game is an exaggeration though.

Players and SE can't have it both ways. SE can't say they don't expect healers to dps, cut a majority of their dps abilities, then make tight DPS checks.This. If your healer isn't dpsing and it's a problem (can't beat a dps check for example) just ask them to leave and replace them. The PF is full of them atm, keep seeing people on discord who can't clear the trials and have 900dps healers. Not to say it's their fault exclusively but if you're only missing a few k to clear just replace them.
If it bugs you because they're just sitting around watching netflix, kick them.
The problem is that telling healers that they don't need to DPS is a disservice because the above will happen and it won't be pleasant. Healer DPS is very much required during early prog as well, and people need to be made aware of this. It's only optional when you're at gear level for the encounter and that is not the "required" ilvl.
I was all for DPSing when I had the tools and mana available. SE took those tools away. Blame them.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

In stormblood it wasnt much different cept it was Areo3 AreoII StoneIV Stone IV Stone IV (random healing CD) Stone IV reup Areo Repeat same frellin thing I have no clue why you act as if there was any difference in between expansions but there really wasnt aside from them finally removing that stupid diminishing return for holyMy question isn't pressing the glare button. It is not having a brave, haste, shell or something like that button to press between the glares. Nor having even an 1-2-3 combo to press, making the rotation looks like:
dia > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > solace > glare > glare > glare > glare > dia > glare > glare > glare > solace > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > solace > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > glare > misery > glare...
That's a glaring issue we have here.
if you want complicated DPS rotations to have fun play a Dragoon. A WHM healers complications that are fun really stems from the human factor of other players.
SCH however yeah they can have a bit of a gripe because they had so much they could do that they no longer can but they'll either get used to it and deal with it for awhile until SE can figure out how to make the DPS rotations a bit more interesting later on
AST I can see where they're coming from having gone from the darlings of Stormblood back to just slightly better than they were in Heavensward

"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."

Because one group is pointing at one group saying “you are idling you piece of sxxt, do you dxxn job”
While other group is fighting back with “I am keeping everyone alive, I am doing my job”
Truth is majority of healer and player are not in neither of group, but once such topic appear, everyone jump in and assume no matter you what your comments are, you are in one of the two extreme

If you're having trouble meeting a DPS check, shouldn't you be looking at the DPS players first?
Though, to be fair, there's not really any good way of telling how well the DPS players are playing by using the in game tools...
You start wherever nets you the most gains in the shortest amount of time. Two players just standing there not casting anything for 50%+ of the fight tends to be a good place to start. Certainly better than trying to optimize your damage dealer's rotations or uptime.
Also healers that don't dps are easy to spot just from looking at the party list. Just saying, you don't need more tools.

If everyone makes it a live, Healer did its job. There is already very few % of the population that even wants to play healers, while are you trying to annihilate them even more but not only have them heal but to also DPS ? As a healer, my job is to heal. DPS is a bonus. I need to save my MP pool for the rainy days (wide AOE attack, big burst, etc)You start wherever nets you the most gains in the shortest amount of time.
