    Seriously, your nonsensical paranoia that everyone is out to get you or piss you off in raids is irrational. Unless the person has stated DIRECTLY in party chat or chat of any kind, you can't do a damn thing to them or anyone else because you'd have no proof it was on purpose other than your "feelings" on the subject. And, I'm sorry, but "feelings" aren't good enough as circumstantial evidence since it turns into nothing more than a "she said, he said" petty argument.

    Glad to know who secretly abuses the report button for trivial things because someone poured orange juice into their cheerios that morning.

    You can see from your logs who rolled and who hasn't. Just type in chat and ask that person to roll. Call the person out. I do that and they always roll right away.

    But on topic, no, it is NOT too long. And YES people are ALLOWED to take all that time to decide how they are rolling. I have been in situations where people don't roll, at all, even though I've flat out told them it is an improvement on my gear(as a TANK) in the middle of a dungeon run. Would it have been nice to get that gear right away to boost my survivability? Hell yeah. Did I throw a fit because someone waited out the timer? No, because it's 5 minutes, and really not all that big a deal(and I'm talking getting gear from Doma Castle while still using Augmented Shire type of situation due to lack of funds, and crappy luck on loot drops). If it's at the end of the run, and you have to go right away, well, that sucks, but there is a 99.99999999999999999~% chance that there is nothing SE will do about it.

    Set a 60-second or 90-second timer. Five minutes is entirely too long, and there are a few reasons for this.

    (1) Dungeons don't take that long to run anyway. The average Alliance Raid - especially those long since out-geared - only takes 20-25 minutes for the entire run. Five minutes tacked onto the end of it because someone couldn't be arsed to click the need / greed / pass button represents a 20-25% increase in the length of a run. It's not just about the time itself, it's about the feel of the content.

    (2) Vote-kicks cannot be initiated while loot rolls are pending. I've had runs of some older Raids - World of Darkness comes to mind - where I had to camp the 'initiate vote kick' button at the end of a boss so I could squeeze it in during the few seconds between the boss dying and loot boxes being opened. Given that far more issues would be caused by eliminating this restriction (hello loot manipulation when a mostly-preformed party queues up), the more logical way to address it is to shorten the loot timer.

    (3) There's just no need for five minutes. There are very, very few scenarios in which someone (a) needs to AFK right after a boss, (b) wasn't AFK during the boss (which sort of voids their right to the loot in my estimation), and (c) can make it back within five minutes. Disconnects are the only common situation here that I can think of, but a long timer is a double-edged sword here, too. More time to roll means more time to disconnect during the timer process.

    About the only situation in which a five-minute timer is even remotely sensible is in the latest dungeons that involve weekly loot lockouts. Those involve legitimate decision-making over whether to roll on an item or not. So if SE wants to keep them for the 'current-tier' content, great. But I see people twiddling their thumbs in older content, too, and there's just no reason to enable the behaviour. Yes, it's a small bit of time to wait - but it's also a small thing to ask for people to loot promptly.

    The timer exists for a reason. If SE wanted to, they could lower it.

    Reasons I don't roll on loot:

    1) I've been kicked for no reason a few times and keeping loot up is kick protection. Either have loot up or be in battle.

    2) I already have all the items I need in dungeons and there isn't a "pass all" button. I'm not going to click pass on every single item. If you need the gear, you'll get it eventually no need to complain.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    I've run The Orbonne Monastery a few times, and seen this happen with people expressing annoyance in the party/alliance chat. I'm not talking about people taking their time to roll loot, but actually waiting until the timer hit about 5 seconds before finally rolling for one or all items. I don't really care if people want to consider it trolling or not, but the timer should be lowered to 1 or 2 minutes. 5 minutes to roll on loot for a boss you just helped kill is a bit much. Hell, I would be happy if they just changed the extra loot chest, or final boss loot chest to 1 or 2 minutes.

    I suppose that is true.
    Truth be told I think the major problem is the 5 minute timer.
    Reducing the timer would solve most of the issues at hand. 2 minutes should be more then enough time considering you should be active for the boss itself, meaning you should see the loot.

    The Idea behind this sort of greifing is that players will become frustrated and leave the instance thus no longer being eligible for the loot thereby reducing the amount of competing loot rolls against the greifer. Thereby forcing players to stand around for several minutes waiting after their legitimate roll for their loot.
    I just alt-tab and do something else like watch something on YouTube or something. Time goes by pretty fast if you do that. Troll the trolls right back.
