Then if the achievement and timestamp of people finishing that fight is what people care about, and not the exclusivity of having the item, maybe they should ask SE to retroactively reward an achievement for it, since it's being said that there isn't one?

That isn't really possible from what I understand. At least, I don't believe it will be. I'm not familiar at all with their code, but I don't think they're going to be able to go into the defunct code/servers and find any of that information. At the same time, I'm still just really nonplussed by all of the fuss.... but I've never been an achievement hunter, either, or the want/desire of lording something over others in the form of 'I have/did this and you can't/didn't, look at it'. Which honestly is all this sounds like at this point. Earrings. Small, barely seen... earrings.
