Oh man, that amazing 4.31 patch that just dropped! All that amazing content!

Oh wait... it only contained content that only 1% of the player base will actually see. Why did this need its own patch, exactly? It could've easily been included in the initial 4.3 patch, without it really having much of an effect on the player's choice.

They'd have been better off releasing HoH with 4.31, and the new part of Eureka with 4.35. That'd actually give content to more than 1% of the player base.

It's still content no matter how much you disagree with it's implementation.

I can see the wisdom of having the Ultimate fights not in the initial patch.

That gives people time to do the rest of the patch's stuff at their own pace, without having to rush due to world first races.

That's exactly why they space it out, they said so in the initial 4.3 Live Letter.

couldn't agree more (the point you're making)

I spent probably the first 3 days doing MB crafting new gear

Honestly the only thing I would really like them to add is some sort of mythic dungeon ala WoW.
There are plenty of dungeons and many of them could be quite a challenge if they were to increase damage done by ennemies.
Doing the same AoE fest feast isn't super exciting. Which is a bummer because FF14 are quite lovely

I made quite a long post long ago, it received moderate feedback, mostly 'sounds nice but player are too casual'
I wanted some sort of weekly dungeon with enhanced difficulty (difficulty around new primal), then there would be extra objectives progressively making the dungeon hard up to early savage level.

Think of it like Ulduar hard-modes, doing the fights in a certain way will make the boss go berserk and killing it this way will give you an achievement of sort.
Imagine the ZU fight in pharos, killing all the eggs heals him to full and makes him much more dangerous, mechanics now have different properties and such.

Because they have shown they are capable of doing this kind of things with ultimate I do think they should work into applying it to other places

Heaven forbid people actually have to choose what content they want to prioritize.

So if they would only give us savage content in future patches it would be fine? (A bit of hyperbole I know) I have nothing against Ultimate, I am happy that raiders get that. All we want is at least one of the coming casual stuff with the patch release.

Also it was you that started all the "lets compare patches" stuff. And again, if you only compare the initial release without the coming stuff and Ultimate then it has kinda the same content as the 3.1 one, including a beast tribe. So I am still not sure what the point of your argument is. We are not even saying that its not content, we are just saying that this content wont keep most people that are caught up playing until the new stuff comes out, thus why the OP wanted to at least have one of the two casual grinding parts coming right now. And no MSQ that you are doing once might be content but is far away from a longlasting one.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

If by later patches you mean x.x5, then I have to tell you that some of the raiding community would appreciate that and have also expressed this desire of having the time to ready their crafted gear and experience the story content before prog and since some went to the press invitation of SB I believe that the 2 weeks delay of ultimate is a result of that part of the community.

Also I'm afraid I've to disagree either you consider the whole package or you don't, halfmeasures are not a good way nto make a comparison a staggered release of more content over an already much more solid foundation will always be better of a of all once of poor content of a much poorer foundation plus a delay of said release of 2 months.
Not to mention if I have to judge the possible future of the game by the quality we've got I think there are much more possibilities for the future with 4.3 than 3.1.

Yes that woken mechanic really has taken me for a loop for the crazy possibilities we can achieve with that, hopefully the dev team realizes it.

Content which only 1% of the playerbase can see outside Twitch is not meaningful content for those players. And this is coming from someone progging Ultimate.

They easily could have released Heaven on High or something for everyone else. Spacing out Ultimate isn't the problem, it's how they chose to space out all the major content updates. This wouldn't be as bad if what released in 4.3 lasted longer than a week.

Someone mentioned it several pages back. It feels like SE has begun handling the entire playerbase like we're children. "No, no. We don't want you to overtax yourselves. Here's one toy to play with. We'll let you have the other when we think you're ready." Granted, the cynic in me says they started doing this because it likely keeps people subbed.
