Lack of content on patch release

For me this latest initial patch has been the most lacklustre patch to date. (not including patch 4.3x) After farming the new trial, getting the weekly drop from the new 24-man raid and doing what feels like the exact same Namazu quest 3 times per day there isn't much left to do within the patch.

I had high hopes for a new frontline as the last frontline we had was Shatter, which was released 2 years ago.

Feels like most of the content of this patch won't be released for a while until eureka and deep dungeon eventually come out which seemingly could be anywhere from 2 weeks time and 2 months time.

Namazu is amazing for people who don't have crafts on 70 yet. I, myself, am loving the addition. Though sadly it's only 10 minutes per day, but the XP is just plain awesome.

They also added a bunch of QoL changes and the like which are always awesome to see. It sounds like Glamour Dressers are far more usable than they were before (though there are certain things I feel they could do to make it even more reasonable to use but meh).

The new dungeon is a nice source of gear for people who don't like spinning their wheels in Sigmascape over and over and over and over again and getting nothing out of 5, 6, 10 runs in a row.

    1. But Namazu is barely content let's be honest.. it lasts 10mins a day you said it yourself. Maybe 20 if you get a reputation up. Is 10min worth a 3 1/2 month wait?

    2. QoL changes aren't content.. they just aren't.

    3. People do dungeons for gear? Why do that when you have tome, crafted, Eureka, and Omega gear that is stronger? At most people will do expert once a day until they cap then be done.

I took a break from this game for 2 whole patches. The story is amazing so far, still completing it. But I'm afraid I'll finish everything from 4.2 and 4.3 before 4.35 within a month with my 2-3hr playtime a day.. there just wasn't anything added to this patch.

    Weekly Activities:
    -Do 24man(1-2hr)
    -Cap tomes(Depends)

    Daily Activities:
    -Expert if not capped(20min)
    -Beast Tribe(10min)

    Optional Goal:
    -EX Primal(Depends)

It gets you crafting XP. Yes, it's only 10 minutes per day, but the much more reasonable leveling of crafts was very much worth the 3.5 month wait. Very much so. Now I can finally get my crafts up, meld my own Materia, and maybe have fun making other stuff I couldn't make before this.

Yes, I realize I could have had crafts leveled to 70 but I simply don't like trying to grind out stuff without beast tribes. It just takes too long and I don't have that kind of time.

No, but they are quite awesome all the same.

Omega? You mean Sigmascape? Yeah, I did 6 runs in a row without getting a single item to drop. Some of those items you need 4 to buy 1 piece of gear. Sorry but I don't feel like fighting the same 4 bosses 100+ times to get gear.

Eureka? Only if you're Level 15+ otherwise you don't get any tokens from NM kills which means no armor. It takes a ludicrous amount of time to build up to where you can actually get tokens, and you're doing the most boring stuff possible (standing around waiting for NMs to pop and doing nothing but casting Raise).

Crafted? Yeah, have fun dropping 150-200k per piece of armor.

Tomes? 450 cap per week. It would only take you what, 4+ months to suit yourself up?

QoL is nice, glamour dresser is still terrible.

Dungeons have been the same as they were in ARR there's been literally no variation except for Bardam's mettle's 2nd boss. Again, we've had this reduced from 3 dungeons per patch to 1 providing us no variation.
Also your argument about Eureka is somewhat invalid with the upcoming Eureka requiring lvl 20 to be able to enter as far as I'm aware, so best get grinding! (There's also nothing to do in the current Eureka once lvl 20)

Just seems like they want to drag out the content of the patch over as long a period of time as possible to keep people subscribed, just like with the housing.

Well thought out discussion thanks for the input, glad you're content with having little to do.

There's plenty to do. There's just little you personally want to do.

I don't own SB and yet I still have plenty to do when I log in. Beast Tribe quests, leves and FATES for leveling my alt jobs. The Hunt for seals to buy ventures or Aetheryte tickets. Treasure Hunts trying to get those rare crafting materials that only come out of the treasure chests. Gold Saucer. Gathering and crafting. Gardening. Redecorating house/apt/FC room when I feel the desire or when friends ask me to decorate their houses for them. I don't touch PvP and PotD or I'd have even more to do.

Content doesn't grow on trees. It does take time and effort to create. If you only want new content to do, you're always going to end up disappointed.

I won't talk about WoW Legion, since I haven't played it enough to have a solid opinion of it.

However this is a fact that S.E. decided to delay content so that players stay in the game, and this is really not a good thing. This is purely an artificial increase of the lifespan of the patch.

But what's really bothering me, is that they are treating players more and more like kids who can't behave themselves.

Gear with interesting stats or skills? : "To complex, players won't get it"
Parsers? : "They are to immatures, they will fight if we let them have this"
Full patch on release? : "They will just rush it. We need to let them do the patch at the speed we want".

Now, I do not know the average age of the player-base, but I will take a wild guess and say that the large majority of us are mature enough to gauge how much we want to play at a game. To spread the patch like that is just ridiculous.

I used to think like that too, but after 3 years on repeat mode, and seeing that patchs get thinner and thinner or just spread out, I started to burn-out on this. I just hope that 5.0 will shake things up enough so that you don't end up feeling the same way.

Don't take offense, but you are simply setting up yourself for disappointement

You misunderstand as well, as I responded prior I'm talking about this latest patch not the game itself. The game has plenty of content for people who haven't been playing for years. While this patch has been released with nothing but weekly content that takes approx 1-3hours per week to complete, as well as the fact that they've locked the actual content people want in the 4.3x patches. Did you even read the topic?

And honestly? There's very little I haven't done in the game at this point and the thing I mainly wanted to do I now feel the need to wait because of HoH coming out sometime in the next 2 months.
