While I won't name them, I put the likely origin on a poster who made threads around a year ago about not only wanting Cleric Stance disabled in instanced content, but also a Healer with zero DPS abilities. They even suggested that such a healer would either get to skip MSQ battles or just heal an NPC that would do the damage for them.
Anyone who frequented the Healer Roles forums around a year ago probably knows who I'm talking about.
Dear tanks please pull every group of mobs from start of fight to first boss in fact just pull all the trash mobs into the boss arena so we can just fight it all at once. That way we can clear the dungeon faster. Also, don't worry about defensive cool downs as they are just there to look pretty on your bar.
Dear DPS please stop using AOE skills as that is a DPS loss with 4+ trash mobs. Also, please don't bother using group buffs or having group supporting skills like goad because group buffs and support skills is a dps loss.
Dear healers please don't dps because your damage is abysmal and it doesn't support your group at all. As a matter of fact if you don't dps you will end up healing more often due to the mobs still whacking away at the tank. So please only heal because that is what healers do best.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

That goes both ways. Pro-DPS healers enforce their belief that if healers don't DPS, they suck, and anti-DPS healers that just wanna focus on healing say those that do DPS suck for risking a tunnel-vision scenario and causing a wipe. As long as nobody dies, WGAF? If you wanna DPS as a healer, cool beans. If you wanna focus on healing, cool beans. Don't force your way onto others, both pro and anti DPS. (Just saying generally, not calling anyone specifically out.)
The difference is, being open to using all your abilities when they're the most useful choice in a particular situation simply is the vastly superior and thus the correct way of playing the healer jobs (and, in fact, every single job in this game!), and there's no reasonable argument whatsoever for straight out refusing to use a part of your tool kit (it always comes down to either a significant lack of skill or "personal preference" - aka probably the previous one disguised as a "playstyle choice"). (And, as it probably has to be noted once again: straight out refusing to do something out of principle is a different thing from not being able to do something in a particular situation because of actual reasons such as lack of experience or MP or having a really bad party.)That goes both ways. Pro-DPS healers enforce their belief that if healers don't DPS, they suck, and anti-DPS healers that just wanna focus on healing say those that do DPS suck for risking a tunnel-vision scenario and causing a wipe. No job gets to choose which one of their abilities they're using and which they aren't. All jobs are expected to use what is the most useful in each particular situation. Healers aren't an exception to this, and there is no reasonable argument for why they should be.
