Should i stop taking crap from people and just start reporting?

Well, I see two main problems with this:

-You assumed that people would pay attention to chat or even comply with your request, which they don't have to.

-You confronted them.

First, I have no idea how you confronted them. You say they responded with foul language. I don't see a screenshot of your convo to not only prove what they said is true but much less on what you said.

Going back to the first point, while there's nothing wrong with asking, in equal measure, there should be nothing wrong with getting a refusal. Especially in the context of a mmorpg and even more so when you and those people were not grouped together to complete a common goal. The fact that you went to ascertain if person is a "jerk" for not holding the fate means you have not accepted that people can just do things as they please on a map without someone's approval or request. All stakes in a non instance map is equal and unless you make peace with that, every person from then on who won't heed your request, you'll find yourself confronting them for meaningless reasons.

Edit: To conclude though, if you truly did "respectfully" confronted them as you implied, and they responded in that matter, then you did the right thing reporting them. Insults are no way to communicate with someone.
