I don't see why they would make DD weapons high ilvl, that would kill relics.

We would have 3 high ilvl weapons: Tome Weapon, Relic and DD Weapon.

Even with a weekly limit on DD weapon it doesn't make any sense to be high ilvl, it would kill relics and if you got the DD weapon you wouldn't need to spend Tomes on a weapon at all, not gonna happen.

DD Weapon will be at most i230, or it would also kill the purpose of Nidhogg EX.

DD will die fast, with or without weekly limits it doesn't matter.

Even if people used DD for level up it then would kill dungeons for EXP, in the end it's another mess by SE killing content.

That's kind of always been the problem with this game's content. Too much stuff has similar rewards and if stuff it too difficult or takes too long, people tend to just settle for whatever is lower until the next patch when there is something higher or the present stuff gets easier to acquire. Being 'first' to get or do something in this game has always felt like a slap in the face to me when 3-6 months later it becomes easier.

This is where a very simple itemization scheme runs into trouble when trying to implement multiple paths to the same ilvl. You can only vary the same couple secondary stats but so much.

Yet they feel set bonuses and equip effects would imbalance the game. Balance only matters in pvp imo especially since you can play every class in this game regardless if you want to or not. For pvp, they have pvp specific skills which can't be utilized in pve, so it should be easy enough to have pve only stuff that can't be done the same way in pvp...

But it won't kill relics or completely wipe out other types of content.

You need to consider that SE has always stated its vision for 2.0 and beyond to be a "theme park" MMO. That means having attractions for different groups of players.

So, to make this as simple as possible for the sake of discussion, let's break out three groups of players:

    1. People who don't have much time to play.

    2. People who have lots of time to play, but at unpredictable times.

    3. People who play often and consistently.

We currently have three ways of getting high-level weapons: a) Nidhogg Ex, b) lores/gears and c) the relic quest. However, those options aren't realistic goals for all three groups of players.

If you're in Player Group 3, then yes -- you can get all three. And having a new way to get a weapon won't really enhance your XIV experience, especially if your focus is min/maxing just a couple of jobs.

But if you're in Player Group 2, then you probably can't easily join a static, so Nidhogg isn't nearly as viable as an option as lores/relics. And if you're in Player Group 1, then your only real option might be lores/gears.

So we have some players who have three good options, others who have two good options and some who have one good option.

At this point, we have no way of knowing what kind of grind will be required by Deep Dungeons in order to build out a weapon. But it's safe to assume this will add that viable third option to everyone in Player Group 2 and some folks in Player Group 1.

If you're in Player Group 3, then I understand why you're having a hard time getting excited. But just because this won't benefit you doesn't mean it's not great for the game and for the majority of players.

You guys make great points about how the vertical progression scheme clashes with stats and itemization, and on that I totally agree with you! But what I'm saying is that despite that pitfall, this content is still going to be useful (and popular) among many players who currently find other parts of the game to be logistically inaccessible.

This isn't about simply adding more rides to the theme park; it's more about having enough variety among the attractions so that everyone who buys a ticket is engaged and entertained.

While it's not directly addressing anything you said (and I did read it all, you had a lot of valid points), I want to point one thing out:

    3. That the entirety or majority of the player base is actually satisfied with the state of the game and its lack of content and couldn't care less otherwise despite the many others I've seen actively state their disdain for the current state of the game and how it's fallen from how it felt before.
For me, personally, the amount of content, while feeling a bit lacking, is enough to keep me entertained. I came here from WoW, which can go 6+ months without any kind of content update or anything, so what we have here can easily satisfy me, and while not everyone here came from there, I'm sure there's a pretty decent number of us who did, and see the green grass on this side of the fence. Something does need to change, I'm not going to pretend that it doesn't, but maybe, just maybe, it's not as bad as it can feel?

Yeah and you know the ironic part? People hated the fatigue system claiming it told us how long we can play and how much stuff we can do, all these lock outs remind me of the same feeling :P I don't need the game to put limits on me, I can do that myself just fine and never get bored. I've never seen a game with so many lockouts like this..in fact it seems to contradict the armory system lol.

    This is the minority.

This post concerning everyone has 50k views & has been up for 3 weeks.

The thread concerning EU only has 57K views & has been up for 1 day & half the responses.

And while I would like change to the same repeated formula, it seems a lot of the posts are watered down to "I want 14 to be 11 or I want 14 to be 14 1.0" drowing out the actual productive posts somewhere in this mess.

At this point it's become less helping the game & more just hating that it exists yet maintaining your sub & playing everyday contradicting what you say....

That makes a quarter of the game population which is 200k, and not everyone comes to the forums, minority you say.

Not saying I doubt you or have any intentions of starting arguments, but isn't that based on the supposed 3.1 numbers?

What IS that site that reported the numbers supposed to be anyway?
