    I've never played a MMO that has such dull stats.

    Det, Crit, Acc, Skill or Spell Speed; these(for the most part) are the only stats you ever get to play around with, and after 3 Coils worth of BiS set making I've lost most of my interest.

    I also played FFXI for years and what kept me interested was the gear and the stats you could play around with and gear swap for different situation, it was fun lol.

    This game is too simple to play long term, the only thing you're going to miss if you quit is the people you played with.

    Funny how you mention that, I had no need imposed by the game to get specific items as a thf or DNC. I didn't get locked out at all in older mmos. I did it to be more of a help to players I was having fun with. Not as a game requirement, and not for a fleeting measure that gets overwritten in short order. Here, not only does the game prohibit you from activities, the players do as well.

    Ask this what do I gain from clearing this content that is lasting?

    I try WoW for the first time yesterday and I am so surprised they have so much element like race stat and traits and nature element all those stuff... Compare ffxiv i say they are too slack on it is like 1% compare to wow if they want to keep the interest any long they need to add fire water earth and wind as a new gear stat and make it huge different in the future

    What is this responding to? I'm not sure you're reading was said.

    Nalien is stating that the gear in older dungeons is no longer relevant. As in, it serves no purpose for continuing forward in the end-game content. I responded that it is relevant as it helps players qualify for current end-game content (current dungeons and current entry raid). You don't need any of it. There are other paths to the same result outside of those dungeons. The game doesn't force you into those dungeons and it doesn't stop you from playing if you chose not to.

    You're right, I am. I shouldn't assume fresh faced Lv50s can do content like Pharos Sirius. I've had fresh faced Lv50s in Pharos Sirius. I know they met the iLevel requirement for the content, but they really couldn't clear it unless they were purposely being carried (and in Duty Finder they were not). A DPS can probably get away with it, but not a healer or tank.

    Thanks for reminding me how screwed progression is in this game. Good thing i70 crafted stuff is generally cheap these days. Hopefully they fix Labyrinth Of The Ancients so i50s can skip to i80 easily without queuing for a decade. Still, Spiritbonding gear in Castrum for Gil to buy i70 seems like a superior option to being i55 and struggling through Lost City only to get Potash drop instead of actual, irrelevant, gear.

    I certainly didn't need those dungeons on nin, a few runs to st solved that.
    But let's say you cleared endgame tomorrow. The bosses roll over and die for you and you friends. Then what? Did you gain anything you didn't gain when you cleared coil the first time? Will you not still be in the same hole and out of the same parties once the next update hits?

    Reddit: Yesterday you went over how you reworked the 1.0 stat system for ARR and you cut out a lot of stats in terms of game balance to make balance easier. Now that the team has had a little more experience and you have more data is there any plans on bringing back unique stats such as 'enhances skills' and things like that on gear?

    Yoshida: There is a chance we'll be doing that in the future. The reason being now that we have that simple base rather than a complex base, if you have a simple base then adding things on top of that is easy because that base is solid. It doesn't effect that base that much and you're not breaking balance by adding new things on top of that. Things we've heard a lot are that players want set bonuses for their gears and that would be one thing we would definitely think of doing. Or another type of armor where if you're wearing a certain piece armor your Spirits Within cool down timer cools down faster. Things like that. Definitely thinking of adding things like that and we know players want them. But when deciding whether to put something like that in or not it's about balance and whether this will break that balance or not. So we're very careful about adding parameters like that.

    You didn't, but a player maining ninja would. If you have the ability to run ST on a relatively geared monk (ideal as they share ST gear and you can need on the drops), then you can gear NIN quickly. But new players can't do that. I've been able to leverage an existing 50 to get gear for my alternate classes, this applies to the experience of a character without that luxury. That's who square has to plan for. So that gear is absolutely still relevant. Not for you or I necessarily, but definitely for a fresh 50.

    To your endgame comment, No, you aren't in the same hole. Assuming you've farmed that content for gear, you are already positioned for the new content. Any players coming up the gear ladder have a slog in front of them that you don't. That's what keeps progression players farming the content.
