I don't know if it has been said before, but rather than the number of fruits, it would be way more accurate to note the number of color changes that occur and in which order they occur. Example totally made of as I have no house nor money :
desert yellow => dark blue +2, dark green +1, light red +1, dark blue +1, light red +1 => othard blue
(this is totally made up and most probably wrong. It's just to put an example for what I'm talking about)
Everyone needs to stop using this... it doesn't give the same results... a new spreadsheet needs to be created with the correct data.
(gets frustrated that people keep giving out bad info)
Not sure since folks are using the exact same food combination and getting drastically different results. For example, people who have gotten Millioncorn Yellow using just apples have used 2, 4 and 10. It is possible, but unlikely, that we got the same number of 'proc' messages, but which is it? The "plumage will change" message or the "beginning to grow new feathers" message? I would guess that one of those is just an update message of sorts, not sure. With my one feeding, I got 3 plumage messages and 2 feathers messages. What we need is someone who got only the "plumage will change" message without the "feathers" message (if that is even possible) to see if color change happened. Here's my theory:
-each fruit can have negative and positive values in the RGB scale.
-The condition of the stable affects said values.
-The message new plumage message will show when the value is enough to change from one color to another, and will be showing every time if you keep feeding the same fruit.
-If after receiving the message you feed it another kind of fruit it will only appear again when the value is enough to change the result of the first feed, but keeping it's progression.
Negative (-) means going to 0, positive (+) means going to 255.
Xephatol apple: R(+?), G-, B-
Doman PLum: R(-?), G(-?), B+
Mamook Pear: R-, G(+?), B-
Valfruit: R+, G=, B+
O'Ghomoro Berries: R-, G-, B(+?)
Cieldalaes Pineapple: this one is giving me problems but if i have to describe it i would say R+, G+, B(-?)
It would be nice if we could get the OP to update the original post with some links to some of the resources available and keep the original post updated as we progress.
I'm also tempted to start a new thread myself to set up more organized experimentation. Would anyone be interested if I did that?
You have to use a Carob Nut when raising the blue or green chocobos to get a black chocobo. D'ah! -_-

Counting food is easy and many thought this was the only important info. Now, the thought that all a person needs to get a certain color is the right number of certain fruits is like a fast moving train that can't be stopped... :/
Problem is that some of the resources aren't as useful as they once were. It's not just using the right food count...It would be nice if we could get the OP to update the original post with some links to some of the resources available and keep the original post updated as we progress.

Thank you for this! I tried this recipe, and achieved Sky Blue. Seems to be some RNG involved in the process.
From here, if one were to try for Ice Blue, I assume you would need to remove Red and Green. I'll try to adjust it and post my results here. For now, below is my image of Sky Blue.

Following my theory if you only get the message "plumage will change" it would modify the RGB values but w/o being enough to change to another color, yes it would have effect, the choco would have a different value from the initial one, but it would not change the color because the system would round it to the closer one, the initial value before the feeding. Not sure since folks are using the exact same food combination and getting drastically different results. Edit: forgot something, there are 2 reasons to get different results with the same combinations, stable condition, and RNG, or a mix of both.
