So after two feeding sessions im more confused then anything. First I fed 8 Mamook Pears, resulting in a single feather message. The result ended up as Cream Yellow, which is a lighter color then Desert Yellow. Seemingly opposite of what the pears should do.

Second go around I fed it 12 more Mamook Pears, with only a single feather message. This resulted in Lime Green, which is pulling all the values down below what they were to begin with. This is what I thought the pears would do initially.

For the sake of science i'm going to keep repeatedly feeding Mamook Pears till I stop getting messages/no color changes from a single fruit type to see if that can be ruled out. But my results so far make very little sense, considering the 'Darkens Green' fruit resulted in both a lighter and darker shade in two seperate sessions.

    Read the fruit(s) description again.
Like a lot of people, you're mistaking "deepen" for "darken", which are absolutly not the same thing.

In this context, "deepen" means "reinforce", while "lighten" means "weaken".
So, feeding your chocobo with more and more pears should make it more and more green.

I don't know if it has been said before, but rather than the number of fruits, it would be way more accurate to note the number of color changes that occur and in which order they occur. Example totally made of as I have no house nor money :

desert yellow => dark blue +2, dark green +1, light red +1, dark blue +1, light red +1 => othard blue

(this is totally made up and most probably wrong. It's just to put an example for what I'm talking about)

It would be nice if we could get the OP to update the original post with some links to some of the resources available and keep the original post updated as we progress.

I'm also tempted to start a new thread myself to set up more organized experimentation. Would anyone be interested if I did that?

This time I fed 6 berries and 2 pears and got the feather changing message each time with the result being Aldgoat Brown. So the total over all is up to 16 berries, 10 pineapples, and 2 pears with messages for 11 berries, 2 pineapples, and 2 pears. This time I added 10 plums to move away from red so we will see in 6 hours if I have a more blue / green mix.

That chart is definitely not to be believed to some extent.

I've currently colored my chocobo to Lavender Purple after two sessions:

    Session #1

    * Fed Bird 10 O'Ghomoro Berries and received the "starts to grow new feathers" message 7 times.
    * This session gave me a Shale Brown Chocobo.

    Session #2

    * Fed Bird 10 more O'Ghomoro Berries and received the "starts to grow new feathers" message 10 times.
    * This session gave me a Lavender Purple (Blue) Chocobo.

There's no reason for the the two people who reported getting Raptor Blue and Othard Blue from 21 O'Ghomoro Berries only to lie. So some form of RNG is definitely involved. It's interesting to note that three people who reported in after 12 and 11 O'Ghomoro Berry feeds got Goobbue Grey, Gobbiebag Brown and Lilac Purple respectively. If you include the Shale Brown from my first session it would seem that just feeding a couple of Berries alone brings the color down the light grey/brown scale, if there is one.

Oh if i'm right the number of messages doesn't matter if you keep feeding the same fruit, because the system would show it again with every feed, so we can't know when a feed of the same fruit is getting the chocobo to a new tier of color after the first message.

Not true... when you use only one fruit you hit a cap where you no longer get this message. This shows that there are levels and a cap for each fruit. People just need to document this but they are so fixated on that damn spreadsheet no one seems to be listening.

Right, and there's a cap of 255 and 0, and of course there could be a a cap on how many times you can feed your chocobo during the 6h wait time, but this doesn't break my theory about the messages.

Whoevever came up with this cap of 255 and 0 is also not thinking correctly... sorry. This isn't photoshop.. there are not 255 levels of each color in this game... that would produce 256x256x256x256x256x256 colors... we don't have that many colors... give up this theory. Stick to the simple facts... when you get the message that your have grown new feathers your chocobo will change colors. Now, lets document 1 O'Ghomoro berry (that created this message), then 2, then 3, then 4, etc until we hit the cap (which again isn't 255). Its actually a simple process but people got the wrong method in their heads so only a few are actually documenting what is relevant.
