I've been saying this for ages. Action MMOs like TERA allow for client-side hit detection in order to pull off fast-paced dodge-heavy combat with weaker servers and poor connections. SE clearly wants XIV to be largely built around leaning the "dance," but when that's so latency-dependent, the hit detection cannot really be server-side.

I could do any amount of content in that game with a >200ms ping, and yet I eat Landslides and Weights that I'm not even near with lower ping than that in XIV...
