Titan Extreme is NOT Fun

I enjoy Titan EX, it really isn't hard, only more memorizing patterns. . . People need to stop making excuses and get better at mechanics, you'll find the fight is a lot more "fun" then you thought.

My comment isn't directed at people with unfixable internet issues, but these people should realize their limitations and not blame the game mechanics which make for a good/dynamic boss fight.

Did you just call simple, repetitive, easy mechanics "fun"? This is the root of this issue; for the eleven thousandth time, it's not about hard or not hard, excuses or not excuses. I'm happy people enjoy the fight, enjoy winning it and whatever else the enjoy about it, as that is subjective and not everyone will love everything... but in this thread people have, with a straight face, called this a well-designed fight. That is beyond me.

How is it badly designed? All you have is that its scripted? Considering that a vast majority of everything in this game is scripted, that isn't a real reason to single out Titan EX specifically. If you have an issue overall with "scripted" fights, then you should make a thread more general on scripted fights and talk about it there. Titan EX is a vast improvement upon Titan HM, and is overall one of the more fun fights we have. Do I like fully scripted fights? Not at all actually, but that doesn't make Titan EX a bad fight or *not fun*.

I think SE has a lot of room to improve in the area of "scripted fights", but that is a general beef I have with their end game and I don't mind Titan EX at all.

I have listed the specific reasons in previous posts, in this very thread if I'm not mistaken, so no. I'm not going to do it again. Read the thread and retain the information that's already been written if you want your voice to have weight.

Well it is scripted and tuned in such away that you cannot make any mistakes for about 10 minutes. In a PF or DF, it is not possible not to make a mistake. It is also scripted that one mistake is everyone's mistake. And required such accurate positioning that any deviation kills.

And I know, people will ask me to do with FC and/or BcoB group. But that is another issue for me to deal with. Lets just say, it is such that if I want to do Titan I have to use PF or DF. And in PF, all I see is JP Only please. Or for the rare Eng groups, I see LF Completed Only please. And I will not lie to get in.

Basically for me. Titan Ex is either "not that good a" group or ... don't do. It has come to represent all that is bad about FFXIV, in which I categorise players into 2 main groups.
1st Group: Pro(s). Not helpful, Niche, stick together. Do not want to run content with others.
2nd Group: Casual(s). Helpful. Not so Pro. Keep on dying at hard content.

Of cause not all are like that. But it has come to the point that I would pay RMT for 7 good people, that can complete it with me. Somehow that seems easier then my constant begging my FC Pro(s) to help. And my constant begging of my BcoB group to actually do as a group. Both which I have been doing till I have given up. My BcoB group actually has it on schedule.... which somehow cannot fill up compared to BcoB that always fill up.

Thus all in all. Titan is tuned is such away that required a level of cooperation and skill that beyond FFXIV players as a whole. And that is bad game design to me. I am soooo going to get slammed for this :P

TitanX is seriously screwed up fight. You really need a grp of well polish peeps and low server load.

We tried from 9pm till al most 1.30am. Only after most JP have logged off, some latency issues gone and x3brd stacking. (-_-... feel like crap even with a win.

1) It is a meaningless fight
2) I perform better as SCH then my main MNK
3) I finally came to terms I am not as fast as I used to. And I totally suckz now.

a lot of people complained how easy this game was. now we have encounters where no one can make a mistake or it'll pretty much end up as a wipe. and its not even part of the main quest. i think its a welcome diversion from the mundane lockouts. forces everyone to step up their game

Honestly, if an encounter requires : "all 8 members of a full party to play well and avoid dying" -- I'd say it is well tuned. People are still selling carries so the encounter can definitely be completed by 7 members playing to their fullest ability. If a fight is tuned in such a way that people can make mistakes and it is still clearable, then it's either undertuned or intended to be completed by more players.

If you're getting frustrated by random players in duty finder making mistakes and causing wipes, then there's nothing to be done. You have no investment in these people, no desire to help them, no desire to teach them, and no desire to help them improve. You're just going to wipe until you get frustrated, leave, and get new random duty finder people.

Part of the joy of learning encounters like this is learning them as a group. I down T5 on two characters every week in two static groups, and even though I had killed Twintania before either of my static groups did, it still felt so much better to finally do it as a group. We spent hours learning together, and although people learn at different rates, and sometimes we got frustrated over this or that -it paid off, and we finally did it.

EDIT: this is specifically regarding "8 people have to not make mistakes for 10 minutes"

as for Titan itself, without lag I think there is no issue at all with the encounter. It is no doubt exceptionally frustrating for people with high pings though.
