i read every single post on this page. No one i seen asked for higher leveling. And I'm not fighting with ppl just pointing out the flaw.
And who cares if ppl want to level faster.... they have a right to have an opinion. Just as much as you have a right to ignore it.

everyone here who is a self proclaimed hardcore takes this an and every mmorpg to seriously. You do not need to stress out over content. Who cares if everyone cam access it. Its a game, there is no need for childish cliques such as hard core vs casual. I was far from a "casual" player as I can play 20/7. If you limit who can access what content you just less the amount of people who can do thay content. Which ends up even skrewing over hardcore who can't locate a group with room. Which is what happen in ffxi.

I still have to see where this rule is written. By the way, the problem isn't dungeons that last a few hours. The problem is ARTIFICIAL timesinks that require completely unfun and boring tasks lasting several hours in order to weed out the casuals that would rather have *fun* during their limited play time.

IE: farming for hours for a key item, waiting for hours for the pop of a monster that pops once in a long time and so forth.
That's what reduce or remove accessibility of content for the casuals.

choc i could play ffxi 20/7 and i got skrewed out of content cuz not many could join it. no casual player is asking for easy mode or hand outs. And personally speaking i felt doing 1 dungeon for several hours was dull. You as long as the fight is challenging you don;t need it to be hours long.

again the less ppl who access, the more people get skrewed over.

If nothing was a time sink everyone would be able to do everything when they got max level and no one would log on anymore.

99% of content is repeatable, and almost nothing gives drops for the whole group the first time. As usual, moot argument.

Have you never played an mmorpg before? Thats the developers intent is to keep you playing, they do this with timesinks. They dont want you to cancel your sub so they create goals that take up more and more time so you play longer.

Earlier you referred to "casuals" and "hardcore" as racism yet you just referred to casuals as an entirety and claim none of them want handouts. Read some of the threads on this forum, people want fatigue erased, no death penalties, more money, faster leveling, more sp, better skills, easier mobs. By the way im not saying "casuals" want this im saying PLAYERS want this, so yes people are asking for handouts.

...? Then that is a time sink? If don't want a time sink why would you want to do the same thing over and over?

A lot of depends on what we see as a time sink too.
    - If I obtain the "Cupid bow" after 1000 tries because the drop rate is 0.01%
    - Or if I obtain the "Cupid Bow" with 1.000.000 of instance points with 6 month(no s after a h?)
The two are a time sink
But I prefer se the second way because i'm sure that this fu*** bow, i'm sure i'll have it, and my others friends RNG too
But with the first way i have it, but other will have it fater 1 try, and someone else maybe...never

Even in time sink, there's a matter of taste, don't you think so?

No because that means in 6~9 months everyone on the server has the bow and it doesn't matter anymore. Which means people become bored with the game.

there is a difference between meaningful and meaningless timesinks.

mmorpg ingeneral is a time sink.

meaningful time sink is leveling. It takes time to learn the game and your clas/classes/jobs. But everyone has access to this.

meaningless timesink a dungeon takes 6 hours to run through with a boss who require 12 hours to kill.

    meaningful time sink- crafting

meaningless timesink- standing in 1 spot semi afk waiting for an nm to pop for 16 hours.

    meaningful time sink chocobo quest.

meaningless timesink traveling for 4 hours trying to do a quest for 12 gil and a hat.

meaningless time sinks are ones where it limits the accessability of content from players. Which again skrews over others as they now can't join due to limited amount of people.
