Small groups for casuals and bigger group for hardcore makes no sense... I'm casual and I want to do stuff in big alliances! And talking about the time to form a group, forums and schedules are here for that.

To sum up, a system comparable to Recli weapons in FFXI seems to be a good compromise to everyone so why not discuss how to optimize it so everyone is happy?
ya I know i meant relic and mithic weapons like the mog trials for weapons. Those took type but anyone could do them Just do a lil each day.

lI think you guys should listen to rushes song far cry.
alot of the lines are basically sayin stuff happens.

like my sig... one day you wake up your a hardcore gamer all your free time into a gamje, next day you wake up with a wife and kids and not so much free time to play a game

Camping a NM for hours on end does not is any way, shape or form translate to difficulty. That notion is utterly absurd. That's not even touching on how unfair it is that a person cannot participate in content without sacrificing huge chunks of time in RL. As for difficulty, the fight themselves can be as difficult as you want. Heck, make them so difficult you get up from your computer weak-kneed from the intensity of the fight.

However, locking people out of content because a percentage of the population gets their kicks from standing around waiting is a horrible design direction, and should be avoided like the plague.

Honestly, no one will be a hardcore gamer forever. What happens when you meet someone get married and have kids? You fought to have content you will end up not getting to do after a while. Bet you wouldn't find that fun. Sorry locking anyone from content even if its just 1%-5% isn't right. Sure you can say life isn't fair, but this is a game. And games are not life. Just be glad this game will have content. Currently there barely is content.

So far no "casual" player demanded anything you guys are claiming, least not on forums. Only one looking for entitlement are the "hardcores" with blind hate and unjustified reasons.
Its a game, just have fun.

i can understand other timesinks, but every game has the leveling timesink so expecting any game to make that acception is unreasonable
Don't forget that the level cap will not always be 50. It may seem like you get to the level cap too quickly now, but soon (probably sooner than you think) R50 will no longer by the cap.

I am on the side of making 85% of in game content available to all players, with almost all rewards attainable by those with casual and hardcore but will have different time requirements or what not.

Then there is that 10-15% of content and items that can be achieved by the insanely determined few, like how we had relics.

One idea is have all weapon and gear sets attainable for all players with a moderate time requirement to get done, not just handed out left and right.

Then with the new materia system coming out have certain materia pieces available to the truly dedicated. I think something like that would create a pretty fair balance.

So what's the deal? Why is it that casual players feel that they should have the same awesome gear that the hardcore players have? This is absolutely beyond me. The more effort you put into something the greater the reward.
I don't know anybody who plays casually and expects to earn gear as FAST as the hardcore players, but there's no reason to prevent us from earning the same gear at a slower pace.

Try this- turn the question around:
"why is it that hardcore players feel that they should be given a reward for nothing more than spending more time logged into the game world?"

And the answer you'll find is "They don't. They expect to have better gear because they are doing more within the game".

In every game, there is a minimum amount of time you're going to have to spend per session if you expect to ever get anything accomplished. What most casual players are saying is "Don't set that bar too high."

    -edit-
    p.s.
Since when was there this sudden desire to HAVE to hit max level as fast as possible? When I play a game, I want to experience as much as I can along the way, not just race to the endgame.

its not fair thays the thing we are all players... no need for lables.
everyone should have equal right to try everything in a game they buy.
