So, how is the healer strike going?
Oh wait, it doesn't even start until the official launch. Crazy.

Lots of healers have been striking since this thread was made, even before if inadvertently. But most that're taking part are doing so from today. Do or don't, matters not. Act as snarky as you want! Keep the thread alive, keep bumping it! Troll or not, it all helps - cRaZy!

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.
Haha, it got plenty of breaks. Lots of people learning Picto and Viper right now focused on figuring out how to play it, they're stepping in more bad places than usual. Shift+F also got plenty of use in the dungeon run (where I bind my AoE).
I wonder if some of those going on "strike" will see enough of this and come to realize a key part of why healers might be designed the way they are right now, and why this attempt for "more dps complexity" won't end up going anywhere.Well, if there's one thing that not playing as healer made me realise is how many let's say "could be better" healers are out there. Holy shit.
Imagine still thinking the strike is about just adding more DPS. Those bad players have existed since ARR, so I'm indifferent to their plight. If they still don't have a handle on the job by level 90+, they're beyond hope so why should I care?Haha, it got plenty of breaks. Well, the strike group itself doesn't seem to have any clue what they want as a group, which is important if they want it do anything. Imagine thinking you could throw a hissy fit, give 50 different things you want changed that all contradict each other, and then expecting developers to take you seriously...
As to "why you should care," the game by its nature needs to be designed so that groups of all levels of competence can be successful. Those very people you consider "beneath you" actually matter just as much as you do, if not more (if they're more numerous in size).
How is this even a response to what you quoted? I was pointing out how many people participating in this "strike" are veterans of the game who, as healer mains, don't actually "see" what many other healers are like. Yet, the game needs to be designed so that even newer players of mediocre skill can be successful in casual content, which is a significant part of why healing has been changed in the game over the years. WoW is also made by a Western company. The JP culture does not tend to view both healing and damage as equally important for healers - they see the purpose of healers as to heal (shocking concept, no?) with DPS being secondary. The line of thought that only what one's own culture tends to value is important would be a showing of incompetency and a source of frustration when partaking in media from other cultures. It better not be that the reasoning because it would show that the devs have not even the most basic idea of how to design a healer in their own game. Even Wow which is much more intensive in healing has both a better healing kit and a damage kit because they know that both are important.
Because they're paying customers, and they probably far outnumber the people who might stop subscribing under the current approach (even the "go on strike" group are remaining actively subscribed). Then I read your next part and wonder why I bothered. Did you really just try to claim a person of average skill trying to play but not being "good enough" is griefing and violating the ToS? That is such a laughably elitist take and reflects tellingly on the "strike" movement as a whole. (For that matter, if one expert Tank gets in a party with three average players and consistently wipes the group by pulling more than they can handle, should that player be seen as violating the ToS?)I am genuinely curious as to why? if after 90 levels, they dont know or want to know how to heal a group... why are the devs coddling them? not being able to do a job at cap, and expecting to be carried and do nothing, is impacting others enjoyment of the game, and could be seen as against the TOS. and you are okay with the devs CODING for that to get worse?
(Strike update for all - as of this afternoon, every single roulette had Tank as the Role In Need, and Tank queues were popping instantly while Healers had a minimal wait - usually it goes the other way.)

I'll say the same thing here that I've said time and time and time again in every single MMO that nerfs to the lesser skilled. "Stop designing your classes around bad players. You literally cannot make them put any effort into it, no matter how much you destroy it for the people who actually care."It better not be that the reasoning because it would show that the devs have not even the most basic idea of how to design a healer in their own game. I actually knew a Bard in Heavensward who put out less damage than a completely naked Bard spamming Heavy Shot. Upon asking if he'd like help to improve, their response was to get offended, and claim that they didn't want to play the game like a job.
YOU CANNOT HELP THESE PEOPLE. STOP RUINING THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE BY CATERING TO THEM.
