Honestly, I think that "crazy lion boy" is exactly what this thread needs at the moment.I am THIS close to dropping the "Limited Races" argument on this forum to prove Silverbane isn't thinking straight, so before I derail yet another thread with that crap, I'm gonna vamoose...
Because you cannot tell me "the only the majority who try content, play it and the amount of money and time spent into it is the only feedback SE listens to" after April 1st. That is as laughable as it feels insulting. And I am NOT going to make you guys suffer through another round of crazy lion boy.Unleash the beast, I say.
Is it good? Eh. Can it be better? Yes. They SHOULD take the idea WOW did and "if you have bound this item to you, it appears in your glamor logs".
Along with "use a prism to add this item to your glamor dresser, which is not bound to you because you dont have that job to that level yet", ect.

Conversely: imperfect =/= bad.
It might not do everything I would like it to do, but it works well enough 90% of the time and I can dress my characters in nice things.
It could be better, but it doesn't need to be remade to be any good at all.

The simple fact they added a new inventory for Island Sanctuary means they do have the capability to increase inventory slots on the dresser without overloading the system.
In reality a glamour system that was a simple:
if=Collected, True/false
For every unique item was added to character database it would be like.. 200kb of data at a maximum once compressed.
if 200kb of data loading from the character database when opening the Plate Creator is going to cause issues, then they really need to buckle down and rewrite the source code at the base level.
While they are at it, just add a text database with all existing models in it so you can just right click -> try on.
There are mods/plugins that do this and don't cause any issues. No excuses for poor development.

Hihi, that is something i also noted: they have no problems to add something new into the game. They have big problems to enhance something, which is already in the game. It is a strong indicator for spaghetti code or code, which is hard to grasp for the developers. Or they mix many different programming languages (calling SQL from C++ etc.) like i mentioned before.
Cheers

That's the great thing about opinions. Everyone has one, and they are entitled to it.
I believe it's both code and unwillingness. Things truly aren't as simple to "fix" as people want to believe. The core issue is the gear itself, but people don't want to accept that info and that possibility of things being stuck as they are.Fundamentally I have to wonder how much is spaghetti code vs unwillingness to fix it.
Im reminded of the many excuses wow devs gave for why they couldn't do wow classic, i think they even said they didn't have code for vanilla if memory serves? but those were all lies. That's a fundamental crux here where one side doubts and the other doesn't.
And fundamentally there perfectly willing to add more flag/collection systems every expansion it feels like, minions, mounts, cards, bardings, titles, reports, hair styles, facial paints, achievements, lore log, the many other logs... the amount of flags already is huge
I cant help but what would be so hard for a flag based system that utilizes the glamour dresser itself, as the game already has the appearance data for every item, its absurd to suggest to me that its impossible when it seems the glamour dresser itself is a means of utilizing the restrictions they already had as its basically a glorified chest storage with glamour functionality
The flags are an interesting point, but those examples are much simpler. It's a simple yes or no check. That's not the case with gear as it's never just the appearance. It's always tied to job and level which is why the mog / dungeon / event stuff is always 1 / ALL. "Oh, but the NPCs can wear this and that." They're probably just glorified mannequins.
I suggested the alternative of making it easier to reacquire certain gear, but people are too attached to the other idea. They're even more attached to going back and forth exchanging insults and spinning their wheels.

they already have the concept of this idea. they already have the system written on paper.
but they can't because you know, spaghetti code from 1.0 and 2.0
I decided to look up wow and transmog as people keep talking about it like it's the answer to the alleged problem...
"Transmogrification has a number of restrictions, and not all items or pairings can be transmogged. Most importantly, the character must be able to equip both items, armor must be of the same armor type, and weapons must use the same attack style.[1][2]"
What the actual hell? It's basically the same thing we have right now! (taken from wowpedia. feel free to post a more correct version)
You can't even multiclass, so of course it's no big deal to store all the gear.

WoW's version of glamour "Transmog" introduced during their Cataclysm expansion is the closest they had to what XIV currently has, with their own version of the Glam Dresser too.I decided to look up wow and transmog as people keep talking about it like it's the answer to the alleged problem...

But they did a major upgrade and Blizzard started calling it the "Wardrobe" during their Legion expansion Pre-patch and that's more a kin to what people would like ( I assume, I know I do). It was a huge feature upgrade that not only let you permanently unlock appearances of items without having to actually carry/store the item, but the system also let you view and try on gear you didn't collect either in case you wanted to experiment without needing to try and get those items with very pesky drop rates.
People still refer to the feature as Transmog though, guessing the name just stuck or something.
