I don't think I "constantly" say it, but nonetheless - what I said was a direct response to a comment saying "I know bad players who try their best and who put some real effort into it but remain bad no matter what", noting that said description describes me.Yes and someone who struggles is not who I’m talking about I physically don’t know how to make that any clearer, it’s the same as the person who posts on this thread constantly going “yeah I’m the one who you are talking about” when anyone posts about bad players.
If you are trying to improve, are willing to take advice and adapt your play or even just explain that you struggle and you will do your best then that is totally fine, it’s the actively bad people that refuse to play properly, don’t know how to play and won’t accept any help or advice or who play classes totally wrong in ways that nobody would accidentally play wrong
Nobody is on here berating sprouts who actively want to improve I don’t know how else I can phrase it but that’s literally every comment on this post
That's basically every encounter in-game I've seen where someone gives "advice" to another player. Calling people "selfish" for daring to not be as good as you at a video game definitely doesn't help your case either tbh.
Doesn't help that most of these posts have this passive aggressive language or tone in them that generally makes it hard to understand whether the posters are being genuine with what they say or not
BTW if they're violating the TOS by being rude or hostile to other players in-game, that's reportable. Now deal with what that poster is actually saying.Nobody is on here berating sprouts who actively want to improve I don’t know how else I can phrase it but that’s literally every comment on this post
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I did, they're saying that it's "disrespectful" to be bad at the game. It's a ridiculous concept. It's a video game, people are learning to play it, they make mistakes. Just deal with it.
I think everyone has to take some responsibility here. Sprouts should be learning as they go yes. Expecting perfection from them by some arbitrary point in the game is ridiculous. Also those that do not like what they find in random groups have options. They can choose to not queue up for randoms or they can leave the duty.
From my own experience so far having done ARR, HW, and through all of 4.0 in SB. The first couple of dungeons/trials in the expansions always are an eye opener for me the first time. The ramp up in what you have to do is noticeable even if you watch a video first. I play it to the best of my ability but you won't get perfection. Yes I might just not fire off a ballad while I am dodging stuff I forgot was coming etc (these days I main Bard).
All I can say to sprouts is do your best. All I can say to people expecting far too much is either take a chill pill or don't queue for randoms.
Point me to people on here expecting perfection and I will recognize it as a valid point.I think everyone has to take some responsibility here. Sprouts should be learning as they go yes. Because I can't find a single post that demands perfection on here.
So I wonder why people feel the need to point out that "not everyone has to play optimally" or that nobody should "expect perfection".
And as has been said numerous times: if someone is trying but struggles, that is fine.
There is nothing wrong or rude or disrespectful about trying but struggling.
The difference is intent: you can be trying but bad or you can be willfully bad because you purposely ignore any help offered and don't bother to do the minimum to pull your weight.
The former is fine, take as long as you need (without resorting to excuses), the latter is not.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
That’s not what I said at all that’s what you want to think I said so you can deflect my comment as toxic elitism
I said if you go into a dungeon wilfully ignorant if your roles requirements, refuse to want to improve or simply refuse to do the basic core parts of your role you are being selfish in that you are using up other peoples time
Again since I can’t say this any clearer, this is not people who want to improve or who struggle, this is “you don’t pay my sub”, YPYT, cure 1 spammers, non rotation DPS, people actively playing the game in a way that hinders others and refuse to adapt
