Say what? Queues are long? Queues are still practically instant on either Tank or Healer, and unless you're queuing for a very specific dungeon or something, even DPS queues rarely go that far (and that has nothing whatsoever to do with the number of people queuing, but rather the discrepancy between the amount queuing as DPS vs. the other two roles).

    Nothing wrong with that honestly.

    1. they are not that long and 2. I have patience. I can live with people who are unhappy with the quality of randoms not queuing for them and making themselves miserable.

I have never as a DPS player encountered the sometimes 3-4 hour waits I have had in other games. So yeah I can cope.

Queues aren't long at all in FFXIV. Log in, queue up, grab tribe quests, queue pops, finish dungeon, queue up, do tribe quests, queue pops, etc.

People say that's it's "disrespectful" to know that you're bad and just continue to leech off of random people and not at least pull a reasonable amount of weight. If you don't want to perform and help the group of people you're with, that's what Trusts are for. Otherwise, it's fairly easy to be "ok" at the game and that's the only expectation, hell, with some jobs it's fairly easy to be "good" at the game.

This is the problem not only in this argument but in ones we have of a myriad of issues both in game and irl.

Those who are making a case against any sort of difficulty, usually because they are the ones who do not want to put in the miniscule effort it takes to be even mediocre and would rather ride the coat tails of those who have, are lumping themselves in with those who are putting in even a slight amount of effort to become better. Just like, to use a real life example, the rich, who are rich on virtue of familial wealth rather than their own determination, lump themselves with the poor, uneducated and destitute and try to fool them into thinking they are the champion that was needed to thwart the plans of those pesky "others" (or elitists in mmo speak). It's nothing but manipulation, but it's manipulation that is so loud and appealing to those who don't know any better that it seems much more popular than it is. And as it appeals to the us-v-them mentality that is part of our daily lives at this point, alongside a lack of general knowledge around a subject, in this case gameplay from a new player perspective, it's becoming more and more successful.

The reason why that is so bad is because it drags the entire game down as SE is so quick to listen to them to the detriment of others, mainly because those using this technique are purposely the loudest. They are also hurting those they are pretending to help as it causes those who do know and are happy and willing to teach, to resort to no contact or even just moving on as well as SE removing interesting, fun and exciting aspects of gameplay. Which those who are touting themselves as the saviors of the new, the learning and the uninformed, then use as a way to further the divide. But they also do not care as they are usually the kind of player who comes in, reaps what they want off the backs of other players and then moves on to the next game to repeat the process. Bringing the entire genre down as a byproduct.

But the only ones who can really do anything about it is SE and they are so hyper focused on getting more subscriptions and therefore money right now, they never stop to think about the longevity of their product, something that is again very prevalent among those who hyper focus on something as pure as the numbers that are currently in front of them rather than the numbers that would be in front of them in the end. Another issues with game companies today. They focus on maximizing the profits they earned today rather than the profits they will earn over the course of that products life.

No, this would require a entire redo of the game. Think about it, the player base has been essentially raised to be mediocre and even the harder trials can easily be ignored. EW had to date, the easiest instances in the game for multiplayer so if you drum up of a dungeon or trial that actually requires coordination from all not just 1 (or in trials case 5/6) it’ll make the difficulty of the game hella inconsistent.
