While we're at it, can we get the option to change tank models into Male Roegadyn/Hrothgar if the player is not one? Really immersion breaking seeing a Lalafel or Auri chick tanking a giant boss when big men would be better suited to wielding big weapons and tanking.
If it's a local option that you can toggle and doesn't affect anyone else... I'm all in for it. Why not?

I like when some games restrict some classes to some races, it's a nice feature really, as well as having more unique racial abilities, stats changes, etc., things that REALLY impact the gameplay and are not just for the looks. That all would be amazing and way more in tune with actual classic fantasy RPGing. But again, this is talk for another thread.

Considering in game lore has the world connected to many different worlds and we have many different cultures and societies with different styles and levels of magic and technology, how exactly is anything fashion wise actually immersion breaking?

And how exactly would seeing everyone run around with mismatched and not color coordinated clothes/armor be immersive? I mean sure we'd all look like the murder hobos we are, but we're supposed to be the heroic Warrior of Light, not a murder hobo.

The game wasn't like that when it started or at 2.0, armors and mounts used to be more coherent and immersion friendly without completely breaking the game world obvious main aesthetic (FFXI also comes to mind as being overall more coherent in it's character's looks as being an actual part of that world).

Again, I know many that agree but don't even know such a forum exists, they just play the game and get frustrated with such flashy looks and wished for more classic Fantasy RPG looks in the veins of FFXIV 1.0 and 2.0, Tactics, FFXI, etc. or don't play the game at all exactly because said looks keep them out of it.

There are many classic MMOs players, from FFXI, Everquest1, DAoC, etc., that are now orphaned, and FFXIV could appeal to that audience as well (offering harder open world content and caring less for balance and more of a challenging experience from the get go would help too, but that's not the point of this post), as it once did (back in 2.0 for example).

Option is always good. It doesn't effect others, just a personal toggle. There could be areas, like the Flying Saucer and some areas in Main Towns were said option is off always, no way to change it. But in the outside world and dungeons, there should be an easy to implement and simple quick local graphical option to toggle all glamours off for the sake of a better and more immersive experience in touch with the actual world and lore of the game. Just the way I see it.
Did... Did you not see the armor set that was the i110 gear? It had fishnets, a boner tail, and stuff for casters. Big abs for tanks.... it was terrible looking and goofy.

Plus, sets like what you are talking about have been around since 2.0... the chocobo outfit, pretty sure the reindeer one, but that may have been 3.0, bikinis... etc.

Not this again... Go stare at a mirror if you only want to look at clothes you approve of.

I personally wouldn't want other players to decide what my characters are wearing. Glamours are a big deal to me because they display my character's charisma; I wouldn't like that to be replaced by anything else.

I think we should stop pretending this has anything to do with immersion. All it is is disliking someone's glam.

Seriously this is not traditional fantasy game. Having glammed clothing fits in this world. I can argue you would ruin the person who has glammered their armors immersion by prohibiting them from showing it off. This topic is becoming a troll topic now. Just stop.

I don't have a vested interest in this, save only for the actual technical relief it could provide players but I still think it's silly that someone would take a client sided generic glam toggle--a discreet one at that--as an affront to their glam.

It's comical in the sense that in a hypothetical scenario where this feature is real, I just imagine someone looking furtively in all directions wondering if someone toggled off their glams and god forbid they find that one person who openly admits in chat that they have the feature on.

There really is no lore breaking glam in the game though. Between futuristic stuff from allag, kinda modern looking aesthetic from garlemald and bozja and the sillyness godbert and hildibrand have, everything is covered. The immersion you seek is not really in this game.

I heavily doubt turning off people's glams would improve anyone's experience. The amount of whacky frogs or something like that is really not that high but instead you'd have everyone running around in truly eye assaulting gear abominations.
