No. I have a certain way I want my character to look. It's not up to you to see what you want to see, it's up to me to wear what I like to wear. This is the person I present to the world, and everyone in it. My character is mine, and how he/she looks is my decision.

It would be like you saying to me IRL that I can't dress the way I want because you don't like the clothing I choose. No.

I can deal with that, really : )

Point is, I want to see the actual armor people are wearing, for the stats and buffs. And not a full plate armor hidden as a pijama.

FFXIV really lacks in mods, tools and plug ins, compared to every other MMO out there. Everquest 2 even has an offical "asian texture pack" that looks very different than the original game's looks and players can choose freely to swap between them (just an example).

When the game first started, there were no glamours at all, up to a long time, way past 2.0: no glamours. Many people liked that. Also, around that time, there were close to zero armors and mounts that looked completely out of place within the game lore. There are already many texture swap mods that change what people see in the game and everyone is ok with that. Giving players the option is always good.

While we're at it, can we get the option to change tank models into Male Roegadyn/Hrothgar if the player is not one? Really immersion breaking seeing a Lalafel or Auri chick tanking a giant boss when big men would be better suited to wielding big weapons and tanking.
