The game wasn't like that when it started or at 2.0, armors and mounts used to be more coherent and immersion friendly without completely breaking the game world obvious main aesthetic (FFXI also comes to mind as being overall more coherent in it's character's looks as being an actual part of that world).
Again, I know many that agree but don't even know such a forum exists, they just play the game and get frustrated with such flashy looks and wished for more classic Fantasy RPG looks in the veins of FFXIV 1.0 and 2.0, Tactics, FFXI, etc. or don't play the game at all exactly because said looks keep them out of it.
There are many classic MMOs players, from FFXI, Everquest1, DAoC, etc., that are now orphaned, and FFXIV could appeal to that audience as well (offering harder open world content and caring less for balance and more of a challenging experience from the get go would help too, but that's not the point of this post), as it once did (back in 2.0 for example).
Option is always good. It doesn't effect others, just a personal toggle. There could be areas, like the Flying Saucer and some areas in Main Towns were said option is off always, no way to change it. But in the outside world and dungeons, there should be an easy to implement and simple quick local graphical option to toggle all glamours off for the sake of a better and more immersive experience in touch with the actual world and lore of the game. Just the way I see it.
