Hidde Glamours Locally (& other graphically immersive options)

So, I don’t know why this topic is polemic at all, really.

The option to turn off everyone’s glamour locally for the player would bring much more immersion to many people. I’m not offended nor believe any glamours are bad per se, I just don’t find them at all immersive or coherent with the world, it’s lore and it’s history. I also know many players that agree with me and even people that look at FFXIV and loose the will to play when they see how wacky and incoherent many people’s armor sets are, this people just tend to be older and/or not as loud and expressive online, so they just either keep on playing wishing for such a feature or don’t play at all.

So just give the option to turn off all glamours locally to anyone, it’s a local graphics option that doesn’t affect at all any other player.

Having options is always good. I’m surprised really that there isn’t a mod already that gives this option to players as it’s a simple graphical option.

Many players love FFXI and come from it, same with players that love more FF Tactics and FFs 2~5 and FFXII (while there are comical reliefs and things out of touch with the lore within said games, they are rare and sparse and usually easy to ignore by the player), the whole medieval fantasy crystal atmosphere. And would love for things to be graphically more coherent and in tune with the main lore itself.
That’s the main idea I’d like to discuss and ask Square Enix to implement into the game.
Now, in the same line: there could also be an option to locally make everyone’s mounts look like a their main chocobo companion to the player (local graphical option), because – just like with glamours – some mounts are just really out of touch with the game’s lore and are more of a joke, just so silly. Another very easy fix for people whom are bothered and just want more immersion, surprised again to see no mods / plug ins that fix this already.

Some players just want to have a more classic fantasy RPG experience like FFXIV used to be, and like FFXI and many other FFs are. Wouldn't hurt anyone, just a local graphics option, easy and harmless.

Thanks a lot for the attention, much appreciated : )

PS: while I'm at it, please, we need an option to disable main towns BMG (only), without disabling other songs from playing, just the main cities loop (it really gets repetitive if you're crafting or shopping or just wondering around in any of the main hubs for too long, I ask for the option to disable just that and not other areas BMG).

I fully support this as long as they also add a filter which allows me to glamour over all the ugly ass boring plate mail and robes with jackets and sneakers because it really ruins by time in the game seeing such basic people running around in bog standard armour and reminds me that im sharing a game world with people who don't even have the fashion IQ to throw an outfit together, how's that for a deal?

Sure. If it's a local option and only affects you and what you see, I'm all in for it. Let players have the option. Surprised there is no mod that doesn't cover that already for you. It's like using a graphics plug in (Runescape fanmade HD mod comes to mind), it only affects your own local experience.

I've looked at my characters without their glomour. It is... Not pretty. With Glamours I can give my character a cohesive look, compared to the mishmash of best in slot gear I have equiped as I level my class. I get what you're going for, having seen plenty of Emperor's new clothed Chocoboheaded folk, but I don't think things would look as good as you imagine in your head.

Edit: I don't have a problem with the option, I just don't think it would give the desired results.

A valid point. It would be a start. Don't get me wrong, I love many glamours, but too many people just prefer to use the now too many silly ones as well as silly mounts that obviously are just a novelty and not in touch with the world or lore. The game wasn't like that when it started or at 2.0, armors and mounts used to be more coherent and immersion friendly without completely breaking the game world obvious main aesthetic (FFXI also comes to mind as being overall more coherent in it's character's looks as being an actual part of that world).

Again, I know many that agree but don't even know such a forum exists, they just play the game and get frustrated with such flashy looks and wished for more classic Fantasy RPG looks in the veins of FFXIV 1.0 and 2.0, Tactics, FFXI, etc. or don't play the game at all exactly because said looks keep them out of it.

There are many classic MMOs players, from FFXI, Everquest1, DAoC, etc., that are now orphaned, and FFXIV could appeal to that audience as well (offering harder open world content and caring less for balance and more of a challenging experience from the get go would help too, but that's not the point of this post), as it once did (back in 2.0 for example).

Option is always good. It doesn't effect others, just a personal toggle. There could be areas, like the Flying Saucer and some areas in Main Towns were said option is off always, no way to change it. But in the outside world and dungeons, there should be an easy to implement and simple quick local graphical option to toggle all glamours off for the sake of a better and more immersive experience in touch with the actual world and lore of the game. Just the way I see it.

There is nothing in the game that is against game lore - its what the devs decide to be not what the players want

Part of the appeal of glamour, for many people, is sharing and composing their outfit for EVERYONE to see, not only themselves. Add toggles and options here and there to show X or hide Y from others' sight and things start to feel disconnected.

Would be nice since more options is always good as long as they don't change the gameplay or impact it
