How is it immersion breaking etc when glamour magic is literally part of the actual lore and is even used in VERY drastic ways in the actual story?
Particularly in Stormblood there's a couple of times that come to mind.

People using glamour magic on their breastplate to make it look like a shirt or even be invisible is not unbelievable in this setting it actually makes a whole lot more sense than you might think.

Edit: Also especially since we're the WoL.
We have the resources to customize our gear, we're not poor or just a normal soldier.
We're the freaking WoL we can bling ourselves out just like how nobility and kings historically spent a whole lot of money on blinging their weapons and armor out.
There are swords that were commissioned that were worth entire castles alone.
You think the WoL can't afford glam prisms and won't know how to use them?

What even is this. Do you people not play this game? Most people aren't wearing a complete set of gear form any one piece of content. With this option those people will look like they don't know how to dress themselves, and break your immersion even more. Yes, you're going to have to side eye the people in the pig outfit in your primal fight. Deal with it. I assume you're on pc there are ways to fix that.

Can we instead have it so that it hides all other player characters?

    I'm the WoL/WoD, and...

as always whenever this topic comes up, this is what last tier's tank BiS would look like if you just disabled glamours.

I don't think watching several dozens of identically poorly dressed players is any better for your immersion.

FFXIV is one of the few MMOs that run on both console and PC, making such tools unavailable for half of the population. It's a deliberate choice. Once you acknowledge that, you'll be much happier.

Sure, blame the elderly for your cultural preferences.

This is one elder who thinks your 'suggestions' are mawkish at best, calling upon a time in the game that simply never existed.

FFXIV is an MMO, a multiplayer game with hundreds of other players running around doing the exact same thing you are because everyone's the Warrior of Light, Savior of Eorzea, etc. There is no such thing as full immersion in a multiplayer game, and it's those other players that make every server and every community completely unique. To truly achieve the immersion levels you're looking for, you'd need to completely hide every other player, only leaving you.

I understand that a 'toggle' wouldn't impact others direct, it's only on your end, but having spent hours upon hours tinkering how my character looks, I'm not too warm at the idea of people being able to disable all that hard work on their end to gaze at my goofy lookin' mish-mashed bum. I run back to the nearest town, teleportation fees be darned, just to re-apply my glamour every time I upgrade a visible piece of gear. I care about how my character looks and is presented to others.

I'm also in love with the story and the world in general, yet I don't find myself getting upset when I bump into someone with a giant frog head or pig costume. They could just be entertainers paid to roam the streets of (insert whatever city you're in here), dressed in silly costumes to dazzle travelers. Maybe they're just extravagant adventurers. We do have people walking around in fur suits in the real world, why not in Eorzea? I rarely see people with silly glamours on Crystal, I'd recommend moving here if you haven't already done so, or moving to whichever RP-centric server in your region (Do the JP and EU Clusters have known RP servers too?)

I see no problem with a glamour toggle similar to the one used in FFXI. In that game it puts other players into a single cohesive outfit (racial starting gear in that game's case) so, no you wouldn't necessarily end up seeing people in mix 'n match outfits which is silly to even put on the table. Also the two games share a playerbase somewhat and XI players don't seem to get into a fuss that people may not see their Style Lock, which also btw lets you wear any and all armor for glamour as long as you've attained the level to wear it at some point.
