Just gonna be that person and say that it's not up to you or anyone to decide what someone will get out of any particular dungeon or activity in general on their first run through of it. Yes dungeons in a blanket sense all work in the same fashion (run down hall, kill things, kill boss, repeat) but boss mechs and other aspects may be different (on the rare occasion having someone stop the party to ask questions about why they died in the last boss) and I also have run with a handful of people in DF who enjoy stopping to read the lore scattered in places. It's kind of really up to the person themselves what they get out of it.

Bosses aren't trash mob pulls though. Trash mobs are always the same thing, there is no mechanics. The topic is specifically about trash mob pulls. And if a tank knows how to mitigate for a pull, they know how to mitigate for all of them, there is literally nothing to learn there. And past that point there is no reason for the tank to single pull or let someone who, God forbid, was faster than them, die for outrunning them.

We're not talking about bosses though, but rather pull sizes. Frankly, trash mobs are more relevant than any dungeon boss as wall pulling can actually hurt. And it isn't about "who gets to decide." Literally every trash pull in this game can boil down to "rotate CDs". The whole experience is painfully linear. From 15-50, I can understand new players being more cautious but once you start tackling 50+ dungeons, they simply don't hurt. By 60-70, you aren't new anymore either. That excuse gets tired quickly. If you're still not comfortable pulling more than three mobs by level 70, go back into ARR dungeons until you are otherwise, use Trusts. Which is also what to use for reading the lore bits scattered around. Or Squadrons at lower levels.

The irony is if the tank put aside their bruised ego and thought about it. They just got a free pass to test themselves. If the pull size is too much, they can blame whoever pulled. On the other hand, if they live just fine. Now they're ready for big pulls.

What I always find amusing about this argument is people quickly label the "puller" as a DPS when it's often the healer going ahead. And then suddenly the tank will get aggro. Almost like they know it's a wipe if they don't. So the whole "teaching a lesson" is usually one massive hypocrisy.
